72 MonthsPh.D. programme in Humanities and Social Sciences shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi.
Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree in an eligible discipline with a good academic record;
- that is at least 60% (SC/ST 55%) marks on the aggregate in the MA degree or equivalent. There is a relaxation upto 55% for candidates from a Literature background. You need to have qualified the UGC/ NET or Junior Research Fellowship. This will entitle the student to a fellowship and the student would be assigned as a Teaching Assistant for the SHSS faculty. There is no provision for a self-financed Full Time PhD registration at IIT Mandi.
