The Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar was established in 2006 by the Puri Foundation for Education in India. IAR Gandhinagar is a state-private university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). IAR Gandhinagar was granted university status in 2011 by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act, 2011.

Institute of Advanced Research provides many scholarships to the meritorious and needy aspirants. IAR Gandhinagar scholarships are Financial Assistance and Merit Scholarship Scheme. Institute of Advanced Research Gandhinagar offers admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level programmes. Meeting the eligibility criteria is the first step of the IAR Gandhinagar admission process. The institute offers B.Tech, B.B.A, B.Sc. (H), B.A., M.Sc. M.B.A, M.Tech and Ph.D courses. B.B.A, B.Sc. (H) and M.Sc., except M.Sc. Biotechnology has a common admission process.
For IAR Gandhinagar admission to these programmes, candidates are called for interviews and counselling. Selection of the candidates is done based on merit. As per the IAR Gandhinagar admission procedure for the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme, candidates have to appear for GAT-B before being called for an interview and counselling. Selection is strictly based on merit. For Institute of Advanced Research admission to the B.Tech programme, candidates have to appear for GUJCET.
According to the Institute of Advanced Research admission criteria for the M.B.A programme, candidates have to appear for CMAT. After that, ACPC will prepare the merit list based on the scores of the CMAT. The merit list selected candidates have to appear for counselling and give preference to the Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar. Accordingly, seats will be allotted. For IAR Gandhinagar admission to the M.Tech programme, candidates have to appear for GATE.
