What Follows Panjab University Cut Off 2023

Following the announcement of the cutoffs, the PU CET UG 2023 merit list will be released. This list contains the names of qualified candidates who have obtained the required marks and rank to be admitted to a university course. The following criteria are used to assess the candidates' merit.

Panjab University Merit List 2023 – UG Programmes

  • For UG courses like B.Pharma and B.Sc. (Hons.), the following factors and weightage on it are considered:

(i) Qualifying exam– 25%

  • For two streams combined merit list preparation (two streams are evaluated separately) of say – (i) Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry combination and (ii) Physics, Chemistry, Biology combination, the below-mentioned formula is used:

0.75*P + 0.25*Q + over and above weightage of NSS, NCC, etc. in terms of marks,

where P denotes Percentile and Q denotes the percentage secured in 10 + 2 exam

The percentile is calculated with the help of given formula:

Panjab University 2023 Merit List (Tie-Breaker)

When candidates achieve the same grade point average, the Panjab University 2023 admission process is used to determine the inter-se rank. In this case, the University will normally bracket together the same marks obtained by candidates in the final merit. To determine inter-se rank in PG courses, the following guidelines are followed.

  • Candidates with a higher percentage in the qualifying exam (graduation level degree) get the advantage of a higher rank in the order of merit.

  • If candidates have scored the same marks at the graduation level as well, then their class 12th marks are evaluated and given a higher rank in the order of merit.

  • If the tie does not resolve following steps (i) and (ii), then their age is taken into consideration and the older candidate gets a higher rank in the order of merit.

PU CET Counselling

Candidates who have been shortlisted in the Panjab University 2023 merit list must physically attend the counselling session on the specified date and location.

  • On the day of the counselling, candidates must bring all original documents and a photocopy of them, as well as the online admission form.
