At first I want to tell you that it is very difficult to predict the closing ranks of any branch as it changes every year based upon the difficulty level of questions, number of candidates appeared and others. Also other notable thing is that your rank doesn't exactly shows your performance as there maybe multiple tie ups at various ranks. So that may be main reasons of you not getting a seat in computer science and engineering with specialisation in artificial intelligence and machine learning apart from its high demand.

I would recommend taking up B.Tech from Universities like VIT Vellore as compared to B.Sc. because the career opportunities in B.Tech field especially Computer Science are vast and if you do B.Tech from a reputed college, you are most likely to get good placement considering you are not particularly interested in B.Sc and you see yourself working in companies with a B.Tech degree.

Both universities are top private universities. But LPU is lottle better in terms of placements , faculties and crowd.

Placement cell provides proper training. Students are trained in developing Communication skills, build up confidence of students  and condct mock tests for  interview. 

Faculties are knowledgeable and supportive , curriculum is well updated. teaching methods are new and advanced. 

Also, top reputed companies visit for placements. Students get placed on the basis of their skills and academic performance. Also  they have tie ups with foreign institutes , so students can easily get opportunities to go and work / study abroad. 

Though , both universities have good records but LPU is still little better than SRM.

Both the colleges mentioned by you are the leading private Engineering colleges in the Country. The admissions into integrated courses is done on the basis of marks obtained in the intermediate examination at both the colleges. Out of two, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham edges SRM by small margin but it is also a good college. Amrita, Coimbatore is the second highest ranked private Engineering College in India with amazing infrastructure and well-developed facilities. The faculties are excellent with the clubs working here known all around the globe. The placements too are good with average package around 6 lacs per annum with around 80 percent of the students getting placed.
