Allahabad university is one of the the good central universities in India.there are about 390 courses including BA BSc BCom LLB diploma PHD and various postgraduate degrees also. You can get here by their own conducting examination for different departments and also by gate,jee main etc.

The answer to your question is Yes. Allahabad university gives admission only on entrance basis. But there is only 2% of total seats of all courses are reserved for sports quota .

Allahabad University will be releasing online forms on 20th March for admission to various undergraduate courses in science commerce and arts based on the marks secured in the entrance exam UGAT.
The exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in the month of May.

See while filling the form if the portal of university asked you to upload them so then you have to upload them.. But in most of the cases you only have to fill your 10th and 12th Marksheet with one of your identity proof (aadhar card, voter id card etc)

But While the time of counselling documents are required which are listed below:

High School & Intermediate mark-sheet & certificate along with one set of photocopies.

Transfer or Migration certificate in original duly attested by a notary or public commissioner.

Admit card issued by the University.

Admission fee in cash to be deposited at the time of final admission cum counselling.

Caste Certificate for SC/ST & OBC category candidates in the format approved by the Central Government of India.

NCC ‘B’ & NCC ‘C’ certificate (if applicable)

Certificate in support of the outstanding contribution in sports at state or national level (if applicable)

Certificate of physical disability, hearing impairment issued by the Chief Medical Officer of the district or by the Viklang-Kendra, Allahabad (if applicable).

Income certificate issued by the competent authority (in the case of a claim of finance help by the aspirant at the time of registration).

From a ranking perspective both of them are not in the top 200 universities according to the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF).

Allahabad is a central university while Lucknow is a state university. Access to funding is usually more in centrally funded universities. Allahabad’s Dept. of Mathematics is older. They have a faculty of 11 in comparison to 19 at Lucknow. The difference being Lucknow has Astronomy as an additional elective in their department. In terms of published papers by Allahabad’s HOD has more papers.

So taking all these into account we figure Allahabad has a better Mathematics Dept. We will also recommend that you talk to the faculty of each to further understand to take a hand on decision.
