BNV College of Teacher Education, Thiruvallam Admission Process

BNV College of Teacher Education, Thiruvallam (BNCTE) is an eminent institution for teacher education at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The college is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and offers three full-time courses in education. BNCTE considers only merit as the basis for admission, which is based on marks obtained in prior qualifying examinations and/or entrance examinations, wherein BNCTE admission policies of the state government, UT administration, and the affiliated university will be applicable. Such an elaborate procedure ensures the selection of motivated individuals who are passionate about education into various programmes.

BNCTE Application Process

The application process for BNV College of Teacher Education, Thiruvallam, constitutes several processes to ensure a fair and complete selection of candidates:

  • Various media are used for the release of admission notification, which is also available on the official website of the college.
  • Candidates shall obtain and fill in the application form. This may be available online on the college website or in offline mode in the college office.
  • Accompanying the application form properly filled in, candidates must submit all required documents.
  • Depending on the programme and current admission policy, candidates may have to sit for an entrance exam. The syllabus and format of the entrance exam are usually announced well in advance.
  • A merit list is prepared based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, with the distribution of weightage to the two components being subject to change as per the current admission policy.
  • Shortlisted candidates are called for a counselling session wherein seats are allocated based on merit and preference.
  • Selected candidates must pay the prescribed fee within the stipulated period to confirm their admission.

BNCTE Eligibility Process

All the programmes interest the candidates possessing a basic eligibility criterion that they have passed the qualifying examination in the relevant field. The performance of candidates in these examinations is, therefore, considered a significant criterion by the college during the process of admission. Entrance examinations may also be conducted if it is required by the state government or affiliated university. BNCTE Degree-wise Admission Process

BNCTE B.Ed Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The B.Ed course at BNCTE admits 50 students. BNCTE  admission to this programme is conducted on the basis of marks obtained at the qualifying examination and entrance examination as per the rules of the state government, UT administration, and affiliated university. Candidates having completed their bachelor's degree in the subject concerned can apply for this programme.

BNCTE M.Ed Admission Process

M.Ed (Master of Education): 50 seats are available for the M.Ed programme at BNCTE. The admission procedure for M.Ed is similar to the B.Ed programme. Candidates are evaluated on their performance in the qualifying examination (typically a B.Ed degree) and an entrance examination. Any other selection criteria as per the concerned authority can also be included in the selection process. In this way, only the most competent and motivated candidates are admitted to the advanced teacher education programmes.

BNCTE D.El.Ed Admission Process

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): D.El.Ed at BNCTE also has an intake of 50 seats. BNCTE  admission to this programme is merit-based, depending upon the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or an entrance test as per the directions of the state or UT administration. The programme is for candidates specialising in elementary education and is usually eligible to those who have completed their higher secondary level of schooling (10+2).

BNCTE Documents Required

Candidates must submit all required documents, including:

  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations
  • Entrance exam scorecard(if applicable)
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (for reserved category candidates)
  • Any other documents specified by the college or regulatory authorities
