The College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong, and boasts a very good name for teacher training in Meghalaya. Affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, and recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education, therefore, the college maintains an extremely strict admission procedure along with the physical and mental involvement of the students so as to select and train the best for the teaching profession. PGT Shillong retains control of the admission process through a duly constituted Board appointed by the College Governing Body, thus ensuring bona fide and just selection procedures. The college employs a two-stage evaluation procedure which takes into consideration many parameters while allowing the admitted students to meet expected high standards envisioned for future educators.
The written component is one of the two stages involved in the admission process. This is essentially a subject-oriented test on scholastic ability and teaching aptitude in various areas pertaining to the education profession. The written test is an initial screening to identify those with a level of scholarship adequate to meeting the assessment which has been set up for them with respect to their foundation and the potential to be excellent teachers. Candidates who clear the written examination are called for the next stage, that is, the personal interview. In this type of interview, candidates are scrutinized in a burning fire of admission committees for communication skills, motivation, and overall suitability for the teaching profession. Application Process
Admissions at the College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong follow an elaborate procedure suitable for all the qualified students. The following is a stepwise procedure to application.
1. Notification: Admission notification has nearly always been on its official website and in local newspapers indicating the start of the process for admissions into the B.Ed program.
2. Application Form: The candidate must scrap the official application form and fill it. The form could either be downloaded from the college website or could be bought from the college office.

10. Regarding confirmation of admission, the newly selected candidates are required to confirm their admission by payment of the prescribed admission fees along with the submission of required documents within the stipulated time after the publication of the final selected candidates.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) program is the flagship course offered at the College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong. This two-year course prepares students for their chosen profession by giving them skills, knowledge, and practical experiences necessary for success.
PGT Shillong offers a sanctioned intake of 100 students for the B.Ed program under chronic efforts of the institution to maintain the balance between the number of students and teachers for efficient learning. Thus, the process of admission for this B.Ed program follows the normal two-step process of the college, consisting of a written examination followed by personal interviews of the shortlisted candidates.
