District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Karimganj is one of the premier institutions for teacher education in Assam, India. DIET Karimganj is affiliated with NCTE and conducts two teacher education programs: B.Ed and D.El.Ed. The selection process for students at the institute is such that it seeks qualified candidates for the B.Ed and D.El.Ed programs.
DIET Karimganj admits students every year for its two-year regular courses. Total intake of the institute is 300, and it has 50 seats for each batch in both B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses. The admission procedure is merit-based and competitive in nature, and the institute makes sure that only the best students are selected for teacher training.
For the B.Ed program, candidates are ranked by the university based on their academic scores and performance in the Common Admission Test (CAT). The D.El.Ed program admission is based on the candidate's marks in the qualifying examination and/or an entrance test, as per the state government's policy. Eligibility criteria for both programs include successful completion of the required qualifying examinations.
Application Procedure
The application procedure for DIET Karimganj is different for B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses:
For B.Ed Course:
1. Check the university's website for the announcement of B.Ed admissions.
2. Apply for the CAT organized by the university.
3. Attend the CAT on the specified date.
4. The applicants who obtain qualification marks must forward their application forms duly filled with all necessary documents to DIET Karimganj after the declaration of CAT results.
5. The university will prepare a merit list according to academic grades and performance in CAT.
6. The selected candidates will be intimated and should report to DIET Karimganj for admission formalities within the stipulated time.
For D.El.Ed Programme:
1. Keep an eye on the official website of DIET Karimganj or the state education department for admission notifications.
2. Collect and fill up the application form for the D.El.Ed programme.
3. Submit the application form with all documents to DIET Karimganj.
4. If an entrance test is conducted, appear for the test on the scheduled date.
5. The institute will prepare a merit list based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test.
6. The selected candidates will be intimated and they should complete the admission process at DIET Karimganj as per the schedule given.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The DIET Karimganj offers 50 seats under the B.Ed program per batch. The admission policy of B.Ed is made through a merit list prepared by the university. The merit list is taken from the candidate's academic records and his or her performance in the CAT conducted by the university to declare the list. Hence the most qualified candidates are brought into the program.
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): DIET Karimganj also provides 50 seats per batch for the D.El.Ed course. Admission to this course is merit-based, as determined by the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The selection may also be done based on other criteria as applicable under the policy of the state government or UT administration.
