Gandhi College of Education admission is put through a process that examines the prospective candidates for possible entry into any programme of teacher education. The merit reserved for discrimination (i.e., reservation quota granted on grounds of caste) in selection is made according to the rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examinations for admission are reserved for consideration for various programmes by the college as stated above.

The application procedure for Gandhi College of Education has several steps:

For B.Ed programme, Gandhi College of Education admission procedure is based on merit marks obtained by the candidate in the extent of Part III in the undergraduate degree examinations. The optional subjects undertaken by the candidate in their degree course are also taken into account. All selections will be based on merit enforced with due regard to the reservation quota system in accordance with the rules of the state government.
The D.El.Ed programme at Gandhi College of Education admits students on the basis of merit following the qualifying examination. The college holds the right to conduct an entrance examination and/or any other selection procedure, as determined by the policy of the Tamil Nadu Government, better realising its merit in conjunction with the performing experiences.
