Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training (GIAST), Delhi, is a very old college that provides specialized postgraduate programs in teacher education. The college is situated in the center of Rohini, Delhi, and is well known for offering training to become a future teacher. GIAST is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), providing quality educational standards.
For D.El.Ed, admission is strictly merit-based. The recruitment process takes into account the candidate's performance in the 10+2 examination. For CBSE students, the top five subjects among which one language is taken into account to determine the percentage. For other boards, the percentage is determined according to the passing rules of the respective board, as per the eligibility criteria stated in the prospectus.
The admissions in the B.Ed program are conducted through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted under the auspices of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. In this way, an equal and competitive selection process of future teachers is ensured.
Application Process
Application procedure for Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training differs according to the program:
For D.El.Ed Program:
1. Get the application form from the institute or download it from the official website.
2. Fill in the application form with proper personal and academic information.
3. Paste all the documents, such as 10+2 mark sheets and certificates.
4. Post the filled-in application form and other documents to the institute before the deadline announced.
5. Obtain the merit list notification published by the institute.
6. On selection, finish admissions formalities, document verification, and fee payment.
For B.Ed Programme:
1. Enroll for Common Entrance Test (CET) to be conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
2. Attend the CET on the scheduled date.
3. After the declaration of CET results, go through the university's counseling process if eligible.
4. In case of admission to GIAST, report to the institute for document verification and verification formalities.
5. Finish the admission procedure by submitting documents and paying fees as stipulated.
Degree wise Admission Process
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education):
The strength of seats for D.El.Ed course of GIAST is sanctioned at 100. Admission to the course is strictly on merit, i.e., the performance of the candidate in the 10+2 exam. For CBSE students, the first five subjects, one of which is a language, are considered for calculating percentage. Candidates from other boards are evaluated according to their board's passing marks, as per the eligibility criteria mentioned in the institute's prospectus. The total fee for the D.El.Ed course is Rs. 75,000.
B.Ed (Bachelor of Education):
GIAST has 100 seats available for B.Ed. B.Ed admission is accepted through the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. This is done to provide a fair selection process for all the applicants. Admission is accepted only on the basis of CET performance, along with the counseling process by the university. The total fee for B.Ed from GIAST is Rs. 180,200.
