Government Dental College, Silchar Admission Process

It is one of the premier dental institutions in Assam, targeting education in Dental Science at its best. It provides undergraduate programs in dentistry and is affiliated with the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. Methods of selection for admission to this institution are well designed in terms of qualification for entry into the BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) program.

The admission process for GDC Silchar is based on the One National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for candidates test. NEET test is for across the country entry into different medical and dental programs. Over the dates of March 9 to March 11, 2023, the NEET application correction dates will be imposed for that particular academic year. With the completion of qualifying NEET by all prospective students, the GDC Silchar admission criteria must also be cleared to become eligible for admission.

The basic eligibility criteria for taking admission in BDS course of GDC Silchar is given below:

1. Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as main subjects
2. Minimum age of 17 years as on December 31st of the admission year
3. Qualifying the NEET with a score as per the cutoff determined by the college

Application Process

Admission procedures for Government Dental College, Silchar are by:

1. NEET Registration and Examination:

  • Take registration for NEET from the official site
  • Sit for the NEET exam on the mentioned date

2. Registration at State Counselling:

  • After announcing the results of NEET,
  • Register online for the Assam state counseling process.

6. Medical Examination:

  • The college requires a medical examination in determining whether or not the student is fit for the BDS program.

Degree-wise Admission Procedure

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery):

Government Dental College Silchar has BDS program comprising total five years undergraduate course which includes the compulsory rotatory internship for one year. Admission to the program is purely on the merit of the candidate's performance in NEET. The seats allocated by the college for BDS each year are 63.

Eligibility requirements for BDS admission are as follows:

1. 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as core subjects
2. To have at least 50% put together whereby the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) aggregates apply for general category candidates (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
3. Qualifying NEET with a score qualifying or above the cut-off set by GDC, Silchar

The selection criteria are:

1. Qualifying NEET with required cutoff score
2. Participation in the state-level counseling process
3. Document verification and allotment of a seat based on NEET rank and available seats.
