Admission Possibility for SC Rank 21,423 in Government Engineering Colleges
Based on the
2025 JEE Main cutoff trends
and JoSAA
closing ranks
from previous years:
SC Category Cutoff :
Qualifying cutoff : 61.15 percentile for JEE Advanced eligibility.
CSE/ECE : Highly competitive (e.g., SC rank <10,000 for top NITs)
Civil/Metallurgy : Wider rank ranges (e.g., SC rank 15,000–40,000)
Note : Exact admission depends on seat availability, 2025 competition, and choices filled during counseling.
Hello
With 42.9 in the 12th standard, getting admission in Kalyani Government Engineering College might be difficult, as most seats require minimum passing marks and better scores.
Your GMR of 23,375 and SC rank of 2,117 could help under the SC quota, but the cutoff varies yearly.
In the last round of DEE decentralized counseling, seats may be limited, so admission is uncertain.
For Calcutta University, admission depends on the specific course and cutoff, but generally requires higher 12th-grade marks.
Both institutions have minimum eligibility criteria you must meet, including board pass percentage.
You should check official counseling notifications and cutoffs for the current year carefully.
With a JEE Main rank of 686,220 , it's very unlikely to secure admission in competitive government engineering colleges like Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar or Government Engineering College, Ajmer , where even the least competitive branches have closing ranks in the hundreds to low thousands —for example, IT at Bhavnagar had closing ranks around 22,332 (All India) and 34,161 (Home State) in 2025
Recommendation: You’re more likely to find seats in state-level or less competitive government colleges through entrance exams like GUJCET or REAP (depending on your state). These options may include branches like IT or EEE and typically offer affordable fee structures. Consider using tools like the Careers360 college predictor to explore affordable colleges with realistic cutoffs and good placements
GEC Bhavnagar Requires 45% in 10+2 with PCM and selection is based on GUJCET or JEE Main scores.
And Engineering College Ajmer Admission is through REAP or RPET and requires a minimum of 45% in 12th with Physics and Maths. So you are eligible for both.
explore the relevant entrance exams (JEE Main , GUJCET , REAP /RPET, etc.) and their application processes.
Hope it helps!!
Hii,
If you belongs to general category and your rank is 3221, you actually stand a decent chance of securing admission in Mechanical Engineering in many government engineering colleges, especially if you’re applying through a state-level counselling process where the total number of seats is higher.
While this branch is in demand, the competition for it isn’t as intense as Computer Science or Electronics in many states. So, a rank around 3200 is considered strong for mechanical in most counselling rounds especially if you have filled in your choices wisely during the option entry process.
Thank you

Hey there!
Thanks for your question! So yes, you can still get admission in a government engineering college with 55% in your Class 12, depending on a few factors. Most states and entrance exams like JEE Main or state-level ones (like WBJEE, BCECE, MHT CET, etc.) have eligibility criteria where you just need to pass 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Some require at least 45–50% in PCM, so with 55%, you’re above that in many cases!
Now, getting into top government colleges might be tough because they usually have higher cutoffs and competition, but if you’ve appeared for the entrance exam and have a valid score, there are still decent options you can go for — especially through state quota or if you’re from a reserved category.
Don’t worry at all — you’ve got options.
The campus is good you'll get most of engineering related equipment which used in learning engineering and practical uses of application. And not sure about canteen because it's changed. You need to rely on outside food. Outside the campus
