With the intention to bring a qualitative change in the teacher education system of Telangana, the illustrious Great College of Education, Hyderabad. Recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), this college now has a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme which trains students to be teachers at the secondary level. The admission process in Greater College of Education is through merit and follows the guidelines derived from the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). The primary channel for admissions to the B.Ed programme of Greater College of Education will be through the Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test (TS EdCET) conducted across the state empowered to all faculties. Once a year, the examination is organised by Osmania University on behalf of the TSCHE. TS EdCET tests the general teaching ability and subject knowledge of candidates toward secondary-level education.

Minimum qualifications prescribed for B.Ed pursued in Greater College of Education require students to have completed successfully a bachelor's degree or any other equivalent course from a recognised university. Admission into the B.Ed programme can be sought by candidates from all streams-Arts, Commerce, and Science.
