GSL Dental College, Rajahmundry, is among the premier dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh, India, providing quality dental education. It is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and approved by Dental Council of India (DCI). GSL Dental College adopts a systematic procedure in admitting the most deserving students into its various dental courses.
The process of entry in GSL Dental College primarily starts with the notification of entry exams. For undergraduate courses such as BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), the college takes into account the scores of national-level entrance exams. For postgraduate courses (MDS), the college probably takes into account NEET-MDS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery) scores.
The lowest requirement to be eligible for admission in the BDS course is passing the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects. For MDS courses, a candidate should have a completed degree in BDS from a recognized institution.
Application Process
Following the usual procedure adopted by dental colleges in India, the following is probably involved:
1. Entry into the corresponding entrance test (e.g., NEET for BDS, NEET-MDS for postgraduation courses).
2. Clearing the entrance test with minimum cut-off marks.
3. Getting admission into GSL Dental College either through centralized counseling by the state government or as per Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences guidelines.
4. Posting necessary documents, which may include:
5. Part of the counseling process, wherein students opt for their desired course and college as per rank and seat availability.
6. Payment of fee and admission formalities at GSL Dental College after allotment of seats.
Degree wise Admission Process
BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): GSL Dental College has 100 seats for the BDS course. The admission will probably be on the basis of the candidate's performance in national-level dental entrance exams and his/her marks in 10+2. The course lasts around 5 years with an internship of 1 year.
MDS (Master of Dental Surgery): The college provides MDS courses in specializations with few seats:
1. MDS Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry (3 seats)
2. MDS Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (3 seats)
3. MDS Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (3 seats)
4. MDS Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge (3 seats)
5. MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (3 seats)
6. MDS Periodontics (2 seats)
7. MDS Oral Medicine and Radiology (2 seats)
8. MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (2 seats)
Admission in these MDS courses would probably be through the candidate's NEET-MDS rankings and then counseling. Candidates must have passed from a recognized BDS degree to be shortlisted for MDS courses.
