The college was established in 2007 and is one of the pioneers in dental education in the region Its name is Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital. This affiliated college offers various under graduate as well as post graduate dental courses recognised by the dental council of India. Located in a 6.5 acre plot the average strength of HCDSH is 309 students in total and the faculty contains 108 members. It offers a wide range of dental courses covering the theoretical part, as well as the practical one, to prepare qualified candidates for further work as dentists.
HCDSH has put in place serious measures of focusing on the provision of quality conducive environment for learning in addition to modern facilities. College has good laboratories, compact and well furnished class rooms with overhead and slide projectors and a up to date library containing all sorts of dental literature. The university has separate hostels for boys and girls to ensure student comfort and convenience with approximately 150 rooms on a twin sharing basis. Some of the features of the rooms include; The rooms have associated wash rooms, bed, desk and wardrobe. The college also has some fine amenities that include a modern auditorium that is used for any occasions or business, seminars and the likes, a gym for members who fitness freaks, and a canteen that serves quality and even hygienically made foods to the members of the college. Also in the same compound, there is the Health centre which has a first aid to all students in case of injury.
The institute teaches seven total courses in two levels – the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). The BDS programme is a undergraduate full time course with a sanctioned intake capacity of one hundred students. For postgraduate, HCDSH has 6 specialisations of MDS, where 2 seats are available for each – Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Periodontology. All courses are on a full-time basis, which allow students to gain both breadth and depth knowledge within respective fields of dentistry.
HCDSH enrolls qualified students and follows certain general procedures and conditions in the admission process. For the BDS programme, the candidates must pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) of the current year. Likewise, for MDS programmes, aspirants must qualify the NEET MDS examination test for their admission win. These national-level entrances guarantee only eligible candidates to come for admission in the college. The institute maintains a diverse student body, with a notable gender ratio of 1:2.26 for female students and 73 for male students. Surprisingly, half of the students are from out of state and it seems the college is also gaining popularity outside the state of Jharkhand. Degree wise Admission Process

The admission of the BDS course in HCDSH is following the candidate's performance on the current year's National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). There are 100 seats available for this five-year undergraduate program by the college. Candidates must be who have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as major subjects.
MDS (Master of Dental Surgery):
HCDSH provides MDS courses in six specializations, each for a two-seat intake. Admission to all MDS courses is the same and depends on the candidate's performance in the NEET MDS exam.
