Ideal Training College, Palakkad,  is the topmost training institution for the teaching profession in the state of Kerala. NCTE Recognized College of Teachers Education is affiliated to University of Calicut offering two basic programs: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

Admission in Ideal Training College is done as per the rules of the state government and the university. The admissions for both B.Ed and D.El.Ed programs are merit-based. Merit is decided by the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, as the state government, UT administration, and the university are following in their current policy.

For the B.Ed program, the candidate must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university. Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent for the D.El.Ed program.
