The infrastructure at IGMC Shimla is decent and well-equipped for academics and clinical training. The lecture halls, labs, and hospital facilities are modern, but the campus feels a bit constrained due to the hilly terrain. Overall, it's functional and meets most of our needs.
I find the academic program at IGMC well‑structured and rigorous, with an MBBS curriculum aligned to national standards and frequent hands‑on clinical exposure through a busy state‑run hospital . The faculty are experienced and accessible—mostly MD/MS degree holders who combine theory with practical hospital teaching, which makes learning very grounded and useful
I understand that IGMC doesn’t follow a traditional on-campus placement model—after MBBS, we do a mandatory one-year internship earning a stipend of around ₹20,000/month. Most graduates then secure roles as Medical Officers in government or private hospitals (average salary ~₹10 LPA, highest ~₹25 LPA) or prepare for PG or foreign exams individually
IGMC Shimla truly feels like value for money. The annual fee is very affordable compared to private colleges, and we get excellent clinical exposure, experienced faculty, and solid government support. For what we pay, the return in terms of education and opportunities is definitely worth it.
I feel my life at IGMC is simple and academically focused—there’s just one major college fest (Stimulus) that really livens things up for a few days each year. The campus itself isn’t a unified, enclosed area—buildings are scattered through Shimla—so walking between hostel and classes in winter can be tiring. Sports and extracurriculars are modest, with only basic courts and limited open space, though the Himalayan views and cool climate make up for it.
The infrastructure at IGMC Shimla is average. While basic facilities like lecture halls, labs, and the hospital are functional, some areas need renovation and modernization. The campus is compact and situated on a hill, which adds charm but limits expansion and accessibility.
Academics at IGMC Shimla are good, with experienced faculty and a strong focus on clinical exposure. The curriculum is well-structured, and students get hands-on training in the hospital. Regular seminars and case discussions enhance learning, making it a solid academic experience.
Placements at IGMC Shimla are good. Most graduates secure roles in government health services and primary health centers, with placement rates of 85–95%. Average earnings hover around ₹10 LPA, and the highest reported packages reach ₹25 LPA in private-sector roles.
Fees I pay annually is Re. 50000 per year and for hostel is Rs. 20000 per year. I find it very nominal as compared to private colleges where fees is in lakhs. With academic excellence I believe my college is value for money and worth it.
Campus life at IGMC Shimla is average. While the scenic location in the hills offers a peaceful environment, extracurricular activities and events are limited. Hostel facilities are basic, and the compact campus restricts recreational space. Overall, it's calm but not very vibrant.

The academics at IGMC are outstanding, with experienced faculty, updated curriculum, and strong clinical exposure. Regular seminars, case discussions, and hands-on training enhance learning. The focus on practical knowledge makes it an excellent environment for academic growth.
Placement at IGMC is outstanding, with most students securing internships and PG seats in top institutes across India. The strong academic foundation, excellent clinical exposure, and reputation of the college ensure great career opportunities and competitive success in entrance exams.
IGMC offers outstanding value for money with affordable fees, quality education, excellent faculty, and strong clinical training. The infrastructure and placement opportunities further justify the cost, making it one of the best government medical colleges in terms of return on investment.
Campus life at IGMC is outstanding, offering a vibrant and engaging environment. Students enjoy a perfect balance of academics and extracurriculars, with cultural fests, sports, and student clubs. The scenic Shimla location adds to the charm, making college life memorable and enriching.
The infrastructure at IGMC is impressive, with well-equipped labs, modern lecture halls, and a good library. The hospital facilities are also advanced, ensuring great clinical exposure. Clean surroundings and reliable services added to my positive experience.
The academics at IGMC are excellent, with experienced faculty, regular classes, and a strong focus on clinical teaching. The curriculum is well-structured, and seminars, case discussions, and practical exposure greatly enhance the learning experience.
IGMC offers good placement opportunities, especially through government job postings, PG entrance guidance, and strong clinical exposure. Many students secure top ranks in NEET PG due to the supportive academic environment and hands-on training in a busy hospital setup.
IGMC offers excellent value for money with low fees, quality education, experienced faculty, and strong clinical exposure. The return on investment is high, making it a great choice for medical aspirants seeking affordable yet top-tier education and career prospects.
Campus life at IGMC is excellent, with a friendly and supportive environment. Surrounded by scenic hills, it offers a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere. Students enjoy cultural events, fests, hostel life, and strong peer bonding, making it a memorable experience.
My experience with IGMC Shimla's infrastructure has been poor. Basic facilities are lacking, maintenance is inadequate, and overcrowding adds to the discomfort. The hospital needs urgent upgrades to match patient needs and ensure better healthcare delivery.
Academics at IGMC Shimla are average. While faculty is knowledgeable, teaching methods are often outdated. Practical exposure is decent, but there's a lack of innovation and modern learning tools. Overall, it's satisfactory but needs improvement.
Placements at IGMC Shimla are good. Most students secure internships and government job postings through NEET PG or UPSC. Alumni network and reputation help with opportunities, especially in public sector and higher studies.
Compared to AIIMS fees is on high end about Rs.50000 per year plus hostel fees Rs. 20000 per year. Equipments are not up to date plus lack of extra curricular activities.
Campus Life is not quite what I expected. Though I made friends and academic part is good, but certainly it could have been better.
The infrastructure at IGMC Shimla is decent but could use some upgrades. Classrooms and labs are functional, though not very modern. Hostel facilities are average, and the campus is clean but small. Overall, it's manageable but not exceptional.
Academics at IGMC Shimla are strong, with experienced faculty and regular clinical exposure. The teaching is thorough, and the curriculum is well-structured. Seminars, case discussions, and ward postings make learning effective and enriching. A good academic environment overall.
Placement at IGMC Shimla is quite good, especially for medical internships and post-graduation opportunities. Most students get placed in reputed hospitals or clear PG exams. The clinical exposure and hands-on training really help in building a strong foundation.
Fees structure is Rs. 50000 per year and compared to private ones it is nominal. I do find it value for money and worth it.
My experience has been great so far with all the friends and academics in my college.
IGMC Shimla offers good infrastructure with well-equipped labs, a modern hospital, and digital library access. Hostels are available with basic amenities and heating for winters. The college has decent sports and recreational facilities. However, rising student numbers have led to overcrowded lecture halls and limited hostel space. Overall, infrastructure is functional but needs expansion.
Academics at IGMC Shimla are strong, with a dedicated and experienced faculty across departments. The MBBS and PG curriculum follows NMC guidelines with regular theory, clinical postings, and practicals. Teaching is conducted via lectures, demonstrations, and bedside learning in a busy hospital setting. Research opportunities and seminars are available but can be limited by faculty workload. Overall, academics are rigorous and well-structured.
Placements at IGMC Shimla are primarily in government hospitals through internships and state-level recruitment. Most MBBS graduates pursue PG entrance exams or join as Medical Officers with ₹30–40k/month salaries. Internships are mandatory and offer decent clinical exposure with a stipend. PG students get ₹40–45k/month during bond service. Overall, placement is stable in the public sector
IGMC Shimla offers excellent value for money due to low government tuition fees and strong clinical exposure. The quality of education, experienced faculty, and hospital training far exceed the cost. Students receive stipends during internships and PG training, reducing financial burden. High chances of government job placements add long-term value. Overall, it’s highly affordable and rewarding.
IGMC Shimla's campus life is shaped by Shimla’s serene Himalayan backdrop and a compact campus nestled near Lakkar Bazaar Hostels are separated by gender, offering amenities like common rooms, mess, gyms, TV lounges, and heating—rooms are spacious for boys and shared for girls Annual cultural and academic events such as Stimulus, quizzes, seminars, and workshops foster community engagement beyond academics .
The college has all the necessary infrastructure and equipment, spacious auditorium, well lit classes, extensive library etc. Although the lack of a college campus is evident, but that can be attributed to the rough terrain of the city itself. The college has an indoor badminton court but a sports center is absent. The boys hostel has a gym though
I am pursuing mbbs for the college because it was a dream of mine. The quality of teaching is amazing, the teachers are dedicated. The curriculum is up-to-date with all the recent developments in the medicine field. There are various conferences discussing the recent developments of latest techniques and principles of care
There is no placement culture in medical colleges. There is ready job placement in the govt sector. Private sector hospitals are not supposed to come to medical colleges for seeking employees, the students are supposed to apply themselves
My course costs around 50000 per year with additional 24000 as hostel fees. This is at par with other government medical colleges . It is totally worth my money as the study of medicine from private sector colleges is extremely expensive
The campus life is amazing. There is a yearly national fest by the name of stimulus which provides a much needed break from the hustle of the degree. Students are friendly and so are the teachers . It is located just at the heart of shimla in the iconic lakkar bazaar. You can always head to the ridge after college ends in the evening.

If we look at previous year trends, to get admission IGMC Shimla you need to have ranks between 1198-2005 for general category. While if we look at NEET PG you need to score around 500-1300 rank for getting MD general medicine. And subsequently higher ranks can get other MD courses.
