48 MonthsThe B.A. (Hons.) Film and New Media programme offered by JSJC is a four-year undergraduate programme that aims to develop the skills of future filmmakers and new media artists. The programme is designed to provide students with the expertise to become full-fledged film professionals at an undergraduate level, which is a rare opportunity. In addition, the programme encourages students to work on their creative expressions in a general university setting, and pushes the boundaries of the audiovisual culture/medium.
At JSJC, students learn in an environment of free and open learning, where they are encouraged to find their original voice and develop their own creative approach. The programme not only focuses on the technical aspects of filmmaking but also honors the liberal arts tradition in its courses. The curriculum includes a range of courses that cover various aspects of filmmaking, including film theory, history, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, sound design, editing, and producing.
Eligibility requirements for the B.A. (Hons.) in Film & New Media programme at JSJC stipulate that applicants must have completed the 10+2 level of schooling or its equivalent in humanities, science, or commerce with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a CBSE, ISC, State Board, IB, Cambridge, or other government-recognized board.
Admissions for the programme are conducted through a holistic process over three rounds, which involves assessing applicants based on their personal statement, supplemental application, Class 10 and 12 marks, faculty interview, and JSAT score minimum of 50% or an equivalent score from SAT, ACT, or LSAT-India.
The infrastructure is unique but also like a puzzle. The academic block, hostles amd the mess building all have elivators and washrooms for the disabled. All classros have projectors and boards. Everywhere indoors is equiped with conditioning units. The libraries are big with a wide collection of books and they along with the reading rooms in the student housings provide ample amount of space for studying. My only gripe would be that the increase in student population makes it hard for everyone.
