JJCET is spread on acres of land, with good infrastructure in terms of classrooms, labs and spacious libraries. The facilities for computer science, mechanical and electronics are good enough for what you can expect in Trichy. The large ground and multiple sport grounds offer a space for athletically inclined students. Hostel rooms and food are fairly okay with plenty of space and ventilation.
The first year training in general engineering concepts, basic language and extra curricular activities like fine arts, literature or yoga are exceptionally good, at least it was when I studied there. The higher year teaching, especially in electronics, instrumentation and electrical concepts was not great, but it depends on the student to dive into the referred texts, books and use the available library resources, IEEE papers, NPTEL materials to excel in core technology.
During my four-year experience, the campus placements in Trichy for second-tier colleges was generally very poor. Only few software companies recruited hand-picked students, about 16 from 360 in our batch. This was quite a tough scenario. Again, a lot of the students, took up extra professional training, joined core companies through career fairs and through online job portals. The salary package was around 3-4 LPA which around the 2012 time was decent.
If you joined a seat via Anna University counseling, a year's fee is the recommended structure set by the Anna University Affiliated college fee structure. It is pretty nominal and many middle class students are able to afford or go for a low-interest student loan. Management students would have to pay slightly extra which was also okay.
The best things about the college are its green buildings, multitude of buses, excellent fine arts club and friendly staff. The teachers are most welcome to feedback, help students on an individual basis, and don't treat them too harsh like they do in most colleges in trichy. If a student is highly motivated, they will do well in this college. The worst thing that can be said is that the college is not up to the mark with campus placements, or good technical background.
I had a wonderful time in this college and met most of my life-long friends here. The staff also encouraged me with kind words and motivated me to study post graduation.
