JSS School of Nursing in Mysore is an institution of great repute and standards in nursing education in the country. The school has two nursing programs, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and BSc Nursing, both full-time. The institution believes in quality education and personal attention to the aspiring nurses. The admission process in the JSS School of Nursing is being put in place to bring into the institution hardworking and deserving candidates for its various nursing courses. These set-up admissions conduct through the Indian Nursing Council.
GNM admits 60 students for three years every year. Meanwhile, B.Sc.Nursing has 40 students admitted every year for a duration of four years. A limited number of seats guarantee an important student-to-faculty ratio in creating a conducive environment for constructive learning and skills development. Application Process
Several steps in the application process are built into JSS School of Nursing to ensure fairness and rigour in selecting the candidates:
1. Admission Advertisement: The school advertises the commencement of the admission process through official channels.
2. Application Forms: Interested candidates must obtain application forms; these may be obtained online or at the School's admission office.
3. Following this, applicants must submit documents. Candidates have to submit duly signed application forms along with the relevant documents, which include:
Mark sheets for 10th and 12th standards
Transfer Certificate
Character Certificate
Medical Fitness Certificate
Caste Certificate, if applicable
Recent passport-size photographs
4. Entrance Examination: However, most nursing schools are known to conduct their own entrance examination or participate in the state-level nursing entrance tests.
5. The eligible candidates would be listed in order of merit based on academic performance and their scores in the entrance examinations, if any.
6. Counselling and Admission: After the merit list is published, the candidates selected to study on either GNM or B.Sc Nursing are called for counselling wherein the students will be advised on how they best can choose a course that suits their interests and abilities based on merit and available seats.
7. Fee Payment: The selected candidates are also required to pay the prescribed fees for them to provisionally secure admission.
Degree-wise Admission Process
General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM): The GNM runs for three years and accommodates 60 students each year in the JSS School of Nursing, Mysore. This program would prepare the students with the necessary skills required for pursuing the profession of general nursing and midwifery. An applicant seeking admission to GNM should have completed 10 plus 2 with relevant subjects.
B.Sc Nursing: The B.Sc Nursing program is a four-year undergraduate course with an intake of 40 students per annum. The course is more broad with in-depth studies of nursing sciences. The eligibility for B.Sc Nursing is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.
