Hello,
The eligible score for MIT usually depends on the programme and the exam you are taking.
For example, for undergraduate admission through SAT, MIT does not have a fixed cut-off score but generally looks for very high scores (around 1500+ out of 1600).
For graduate admissions like MS or PhD, eligibility depends more on your academic marks, GRE scores, and other factors.
Hope it helps !
Let's break down your options:
Current Situation
- You've scored 98.67 in JEE Mains 2025, which might not be enough to secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- However, you're likely to get a seat in NIT Surathkal for EEE or ECE.
Option 1: Pursue B.Tech in NIT Surathkal
- Pros:
- You'll get a good undergraduate degree from a reputable institution.
- You can focus on academics, research, and extracurricular activities.
- Cons:
- You might feel that you're not in your dream college (IIT Bombay).
Option 2: Take a Drop Year for JEE Advanced 2026
- Pros:
- You might improve your score and secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.
- IIT Bombay is a prestigious institution with excellent resources and opportunities.
- Cons:
- There's no guarantee that you'll improve your score or get into IIT Bombay.
- You'll have to prepare for another intense exam season.
Option 3: Pursue M.Tech from MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology)
- Pros:
- MIT offers a good M.Tech program with various specializations.
- You can gain expertise in your chosen field and enhance your career prospects.
- Cons:
- You'll need to complete your B.Tech before applying for M.Tech.
- You might need to take entrance exams like GATE or MET.
Considerations
- Your interests and priorities: Are you more interested in pursuing a B.Tech from IIT Bombay or an M.Tech from MIT?
- Your academic and career goals: Will a B.Tech from NIT Surathkal or an M.Tech from MIT align better with your goals?
- The risks and benefits of taking a drop year: Are you prepared to take the risk of not improving your score or getting into IIT Bombay?
Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual circumstances, priorities, and goals.
