Have a question related to MIT Chennai ?

My approximate score is 176.15 out of 200 without any normalisation. As an out of state candidate, would I get into college of engineering guindy or madras institute of technology ?

Dear Shivani,

Thank you for your query.

With an approximate score of 176.15 out of 200 in the TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions), your chances of getting admission to College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) or Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chennai depend on a few critical factors:

1. Normalisation: TNEA uses a normalisation method to equate marks from different state boards, so your actual rank may vary once normalisation is applied.

2. Category and Quota: As you mentioned you are an out-of-state candidate, you would fall under the open category (general) in the other state quota, which typically has very high cutoffs for premier colleges like CEG and MIT.

3. Previous Year Trends:

In past years, the closing cut-off for top branches like CSE, ECE in CEG and MIT for general/open candidates (especially out-of-state) was often above 198.

For non-core branches, chances slightly increase, but even then, a score above 190 was generally preferred.

Conclusion:

With a score of 176.15, it is highly unlikely to get admission in CEG or MIT Chennai, especially in top branches and under out-of-state quota. However, you may consider other good engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu under management or open quota based on your preference and budget.

You are advised to participate in the counselling and explore:

Tier-2 government colleges in TN

Private deemed universities like SRM, VIT, or SASTRA (if applicable)

Your home state counselling for better chances.

Best of luck for your future admissions!

Can I MIT through jee mains percentile

Your JEE Main rank or percentile and the year-specific cutoff determine your admission to MIT (Mumbai Institute of Technology).

Although precise cutoffs differ every year, chances are generally improved by a good JEE Main percentile above 90-95.

For the most recent cutoff information, visit MIT's official admissions page or counselling details.

My approximate score is 176.15 out of 200 without any normalisation. As an out of state candidate, would I get into college of engineering guindy or madras institute of technology ?

Having scored approx 176.15 out of 200 in KCET, without normalization, that is a extremely high score, more so as an out of state applicant. So out of state seats are less and more competitive, though you have a good chance in the Karnataka top ranked engineering colleges, more so in Computer Science, ECE or IT branch, depending upon the individual cutoff trends. But admission in the very popular government colleges such as UVCE or RVCE may be a squeeze under open category as there are few seats available to non-Karnataka students.
