Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Vikarabad, Well-conceived choice of names for a medical institution should have the word "institute" in it, which is quite fair. A detailed analysis reveals that in a logical sense it should have "medical sciences" in its name too. Looking from the angle of the founding patron, "Mahavir Medical Institute" would have sufficed. The establishment has now accumulated fame, running undergraduate and postgraduate courses in several fields of medicine.
An entrance examination at the national level is the basis of the MIMS admission procedure, held to select those candidates who qualify most favorably. It thus works upon a merit-based system of admission in the interest of fair and impartial procedure.
MIMS admits students for undergraduate studies in accordance with the merit ranking established by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the cohort. This examination is conducted annually across India by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the purpose of admission to the MBBS course. Thus, for candidates wishing to pursue the MBBS at MIMS, it is necessary that they qualify in NEET and be placed on the merit list.
