The NIIPVDRC Chennai is one of the specialized Educational institutions the focuses on empowering the Divyangjan that is, persons with visual impairment. Located in a six acres land, the institute has two specialised courses in special education in total it admits 60 students. Degree wise Admission Process
B.Ed Special Education: One of the comprehensive full-time courses in vogue at NIIPVDRC, Chennai, is the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Special Education. This programme aims to train teachers specifically intended for students affected by visual impairment. Like other disciplines of study, eligibility and merit shall form the basis of admission into the B.Ed Special Education course. Such merit is based on the aggregate obtainable in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Admission may involve any other method prescribed by the state government, union territory administration, or the affiliated university. This course has an approved intake of 30 per annum.
D.Ed Special Education: D.Ed in Special Education is the second course that NIIPVDRC offers. Similar to the B.Ed course, admission into the D.Ed in Special Education is based on merit. Selection is based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The admission may also comprise any other method of selection as per the policy of the state government or UT administration. This program also admits 30 students yearly.
