The GAT paper comprises academic subjects like Reasoning, Mathematics (class X level), English Language, and Comprehension. The Business Domain segment needs a three-pronged approach with studies in static GK, current affairs, and fashion and industry awareness

English:

The questions are based on grammar and syntax. Questions are based on these areas – synonyms, antonyms, idioms & phrases, spot the errors, cloze test, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, analogies, spelling errors, one-word substitution, and ordering of sentences/passage. Try to build your vocabulary extensively.

Reasoning:

Verbal and non-verbal – series, coding-decoding, directions, ranking, sitting arrangement, syllogism, calendar, clocks, eligibility criteria, blood relations, cubes and dices, line counting, graph, puzzles, etc.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs (Fashion GK included):

It comprises static GK and current affairs, with a focus on fashion-oriented GK for which candidates need to have updates from the fashion firmament. Read newspapers and fashion magazines. Watch TV for brand endorsements and taglines. The GK section mainly carries fashion, brands, logos, fashion terms, entertainment events, celebrities, Miss World and Miss Universe titles, fabrics, and questions related to recent fashion trends. Learn about sports, culture, and the history of India. Be knowledgeable about current affairs related to political developments of national importance, social issues, and a bit about the economy.

Mathematics:

Number system, ratio proportion, averages, ages, profit and loss, speed time, upstream & downstream, mixtures & allegations, pipes, and cisterns, work time, simple interest, compound interest,  mensuration, set theory, trigonometry, height & distance, permutation n combination, and probability.

How to prepare for NIFT Situation Test:

Prepare a tool kit with all utilities like a geometry box, foot ruler in metal & plastic, paper-knife, scissors big & small, cello tape, glue stick, ADHESIVES, all pens, markers, etc.

Practice handling of all types of craft materials. You could work on the following given materials by trying to practice how to cut and attach within the same material category & also across the material category.

Some materials to practice with are – cardboard, thermocol (thick & thin), glaze papers, kite papers, handmade sheets, cellophane, fabric, colored clay, aluminum foil, aluminum sheet, sun pack, foam, straw pipe, modulable aluminum wire, transparency sheet, cotton, rubber sheet, gift wrapping sheet, beads & sequences, etc.

Always Work Time-Bound. It is pointless to keep sitting with a single assignment for more than 2 hours as that is the time limit you have.

Prep Tips for NIFT Creative ability test [CAT]

Develop objectives and goals: Your goal should be clear to you so that you have confidence and a planned approach towards your goal. Don’t prepare to appear in the examination but set your target to qualify and get marks in the test. Develop your objectives to achieve your goal. You must be very sure about what are you preparing for. List out the topics you have to cover to qualify for the examination. Check your strength and weakness and set objectives to improve

Prepare a methodology: Make a draft methodology chart for your preparation, as you have to prepare for the test in stages, and skipping or shuffling the stages can confuse you and may affect the quality of your work which may hinder your performance in the examination. Start with the fundamentals of design. This would keep you updated about your progress and will set a strong foundation for further stages.

Determined Approach: Be determined and execute your plan thoroughly and rigorously. Keep in mind, if you just make plans and do not implement them then there would not be any significant progress in your quality of work.

Observation and Application based methods: Keep observing your surrounding and vicinity; this would help you to understand the application of the topics you are practicing, as the creative test is always application-based. For example, if you are practicing line work then check for its application, look up questions-based online exercises. The same should be done for all the topics to understand the reason for practicing particular topics.

Be Optimistic: The examination is designed to evaluate drawing, visualization, creative writing but other than this it also assesses the psychology behind your answers. Your answer will depict your psyche. One has to keep an optimistic approach by choosing positive, cheerful, confident topics, options, and color schemes.

Avoid Myths: A common myth is that entrance exam are very tough or that the questions are complex and difficult to crack. It is just a different pattern of examination that requires a different approach to understand the same subject that you have studied in school.

Time Management: Time management is a critical part of the preparation of any exam as you have to maintain the quality of your answer and complete it in the given time as well. Students should develop a habit of drawing complete answers and doing it in a set timeline. So attempt the questions with such a speed that you can complete the tests within the stipulated time.

Avoid plagiarism, as it would damage your imagination abilities and would deplete your thoughts, ideas, and observation regarding the subject and topics and you will not be able to come up with any innovative answers. Eligibility- Candidate must complete 10+2 exams.

Release of Form- December 3, 2021

Last date for online registration- January 18-22, 2022

Admit card- January 29,2022

Entrance exam- February 6,2022

The National Institute of Fashion Technology will connduct the NIFT entrance exam 2022 for entry into various courses.The design courses offered at NIFT campuses include Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech). The forms for same has been released on 3rd December and NIFT entrance exam 2022 to be conducted on February 6 in pen and paper mode. . Candidates fulfilling the below mentioned criteria can appear for the examination:

• Applicants must pass a 10+2 board exam or equivalent from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination.
• Applicants appearing the 10+2 exam or equivalent in 2022 are eligible to apply for the NIFT entrance exam.
• General category and OBC - NCL candidates' maximum age must be less than 24 years as on August 1, 2022.
• SC/ST/PwD candidates get relaxation of the 5 year upper age limit.
