About NSS Teacher Training College, Ottapalam

NSS Teacher Training College is one of the oldest institutions in Palakkad, Kerala, which was started in 1960. Located at Michiyavu this is a co-educational college affiliated to the University of Calicut and has the mandate of producing future teachers. NAAC accredited and NCTE approved Universities and Institutes are in our college and these facts prove our institution as an epitome of quality education. Situated over an area of 6.78 acres, it provides three B.ed courses for the total enrolment of 262 students. The college positively adheres to the student teacher ratio, because the college’s faculty strength is as low as 19 which means that a student will get individual attention and proper knowledge from the professor.

The NSS Teacher Training College has a number of facilities focusing on contemporary equipment to facilitate its activities. A large and computerised library that contains more than thirteen thousand books and 27 local and foreign journals for the students. The institution of technology is evident by a good computer lab site with forty computers with internet connection and the information technology facilities in each part of the college. For the physical side, college provides the sports grounds and a fitness centre. Auditorium is a special premise for holding meetings and conferences, which contributes to the development of a rich student life. The college also has an equally well equipped health centre with basic first aide amenities for the students. 

NSS Teacher Training College provides a full list of education courses at all levels of higher learning institutions. The institution provides three full-time programmes: The University offers a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), a Master of Education (M.Ed) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education (PhD). The B.ED programme, which offers 300 intake capacity, is the principal course offered in this college is flag as one of the finest in Eastern India. It admits 50 students for the M.Ed programme with a view of preparing proficient professionals for leadership challenges in their profession. However, it provides the possibility for close investigation in the sphere of education.

The admission process of NSS Teacher Training College follows merit hence the college has standards regarding education. For the B.Ed programme the admissions will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination and or entrance examination. Application Process

Application procedure for NSS Teacher Training College, Ottapalam, differs with the course:

B.Ed: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is NSS Teacher Training College's flagship course with an intake capacity of 300 seats. Admission in B.Ed program is on the basis of marks obtained in entrance exam and/or qualifying exam. The college reserves the right to take into account other qualifying parameters as prescribed by the state government, Union Territory administration, and the University.

M.Ed: 50 seats are available under the course of M.Ed. Admission to the M.Ed course is also merit-based, with marks secured in the qualifying examination, entrance test, or any other mode as per the state and university guidelines. The course is designed to equip able professionals to be suitable for leadership positions in education.

Ph.D Education: The NSS Teacher Training College has a Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Ph.D) course as well. There is no mention of entry to the Ph.D program, but that would depend on an arduous process of selection involving entry tests, interview, and selection of research proposals.
