Regional College of Education, Gaya Admission Process

Regional College of Education, Gaya is one of the premier teacher education colleges in Bihar, India. The college runs two major programs, B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Selection of deserving candidates for a program of study is thus done on merit through the process of admission at Regional College of Education, Gaya, as per rules laid down by the state government, the UT administration, and the affiliated university. Normally, the admissions for the college are conducted in the months after the results of the qualifying examinations have been declared for any particular academic year. The admission process is in sync with the academic calendar of Bihar, changing slightly each year.

Therefore, applicants are highly advised to check the college's website regularly or contact the admission office for any specific dates. As far as the minimum eligibility requirement for both B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. courses is concerned, the applicants must have qualified for a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized university. The admissions are based on the merit obtained in qualifying examination and/or the entrance examination. Hence, admission to the program is on a merit basis, and the best candidates will be selected.

Application Process

The application process of the Regional College of Education, Gaya, is scheduled as follows:

1. Notification: The college shall advertise the admission notification on the official website and in local newspapers highlighting the commencement of the application process.

2. Application Form: Candidates buy the application form from the campus or download it from the official website.

3. Form Filling: Applicants have to fill the application form carefully with all personal and academic details.

4. Document Submission: The completed application form has to be submitted along with the following documents:

  • Passport size photographs
  • Mark-sheet of qualifying examinations equivalent to 10th, 12th, and Bachelor's degree
  • Valid ID proof
  • Scheduled Caste Certificate (where applicable)
  • Any other pertinent certificates mentioned by the institute.

5. Application Submission: The forms must be filled in and submitted to the admission office of the college together with all relevant documents before the last date specified in the notification.

6. Entrance Examination: Where applicable, the candidates may have to sit for an entrance examination notified by the college or by a state-level examining authority.

7. Merit list: The college announces the merit list on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination followed by the entrance examination (wherever applicable) as per the admission policy.

8. Counseling and Admission: After that, selected candidates will be invited for counseling whereupon they would be required to produce their original documents for verification and pay the required amount of fee to get admission onto the program.

9. Orientation: All students must attend the orientation program for familiarization with the facilities available in the college, faculty, and academic requirements.

Admissions Process According to Degrees

B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education):This is a full-time, two-year course offered at Regional College of Education, Gaya, with an  intake capacity of 100 students. Admissions to the B.Ed. programs are made on the basis of a merit list prepared by using the marks obtained in their qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The college adopts the admission guidelines as set by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the affiliated university.

For D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education): D.El.Ed. also admits 100 students. For D.El.Ed, the admission procedure is more or less similar to that of B.Ed. wherein the candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The college is following the state government's admission policy and the UT administration for this program.
