Sadhan Chandra Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to the University of Calcutta, is located in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The entire admission process of Sadhan Chandra Mahavidyalaya is generally in accordance with the academic calendar of the University of Calcutta. 

Although particular years may have variations regarding specific dates, the usual pattern is that admissions start after the declaration of higher secondary (10+2) results, that is, around May or June.  Candidates seeking admission into Sadhan Chandra Mahavidyalaya must satisfy the eligibility requirements by passing the 10+2 examination, conducted by a board recognized by the authorities. The college is also offering 8 undergraduate courses, all of which are full-time programs. B.A., with various honors options, is the main aim.

1. Notification: The college advertises the commencement of the admission process on the official website as well as in some local newspapers.

2. Online Application: Candidates are required to fill in the online form available on the college's official website. Take care to ensure that all details are entered correctly and completely.

3. Upload of Document: The scanned copy of necessary documents must be uploaded together with the application. These are usually

  • 12th standard mark sheet, 
  • Passport size photo,

4. Application Fee: The application fee should be paid online through the payment gateway. The fee may differ for different categories of students.

5. Submission: After completing all details and uploading documents, submit the application.

6. Merit List: The merit lists will be prepared and published on the basis of criteria generated for every program by the college. They will be announced usually on the college notice board as well as on the website.

7. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will visit the college on the specified days to get their original documents checked.

BA (Hons): Candidates for the BA Honours programmes offered in Bengali, History, Political Science, English, Philosophy, Education, and Sanskrit are chosen based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 examination. Each honours programme has a fixed number of seats:

  1. BA Bengali Honours: 147 seats
  2. BA History Honours: 89 seats
  3. BA Philosophy Honours: 89 seats
  4. BA Education Honours: 68 seats
  5. BA Political Science Honours: 49 seats
  6. BA English Honours: 49 seats
  7. BA Sanskrit Honours: 37 seats

BA (General): The BA General programme has 363 seats. The BA General is for those who wish to study the maximum number of subjects without specializing in any one particular subject.

For all BA programmes, candidates have to complète their 10+2 with the required subjects as per the norms of the University of Calcutta. Admissions are generally based on the percentage obtained in the 10+2 examination with preference being given to those students who had studied the relevant subjects in the 10+2 examination.
