Shahul Hameed Memorial Engineering College (SHMEC) was set up during the year 2002 in Kadakkal, Kollam, Kerala. This affiliated college which is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is spread in 25 acres and provides various engineering streams. It has enroled a total of 151 students and has a faculty of 75 and thus offers effective environment for quality technical education. This college has a wide stream of engineering, mostly in undergraduate level B.Tech and postgraduate M.Tech courses. The B.Tech programmes offered are Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Information Technology. All these full-time courses take four years to complete and the intakes are at 30 students per course. For postgraduate courses, SHMEC admits 9 students in M.Tech in Signal Processing and M.Tech Thermal Science.
