Shahul Hameed Memorial Engineering College (SHMEC) was set up during the year 2002 in Kadakkal, Kollam, Kerala. This affiliated college which is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is spread in 25 acres and provides various engineering streams. It has enroled a total of 151 students and has a faculty of 75 and thus offers effective environment for quality technical education. The college teaches 8 courses under 2 degree programmes with specialisation in mechanical, electrical and electronics, computer science and information technology engineering.

SHMEC has a variety of infrastructural facilities within the school that seek to improve the students’ performance. The college has separate hostel facility for boys and girls, and the mess facilities are also on dividing system basis. There are many superb facilities available for students, excellent laboratories, computer, well stocked library, health care centre and so on. Sporting and physical activities lovers also get the best sports facilities in the college if they wish to join. The campus has well established modern I.T facilities hence enabling the students to embrace the advance technology. It also contains an auditorium, to house events and guest lecturers, laboratory facilities where students can practice their practicals and a health facility that has a first aid section too.

This college has a wide stream of engineering, mostly in undergraduate level B.Tech and postgraduate M.Tech courses. The B.Tech programmes offered are Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Information Technology. All these full-time courses take four years to complete and the intakes are at 30 students per course. For postgraduate courses, SHMEC admits 9 students in M.Tech in Signal Processing and M.Tech Thermal Science. This impressive set of courses help students to cover the general range of engineering disciplines and get as many opportunities as they need to focus on the desired specialisations.
