Shakuntalam Institute of Teacher Education is a co-educational affiliated college situated in Sasaram, Bihar. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has sanctioned the institution for imparting teacher education courses. Candidates for the B.Ed. program shall successfully complete graduation or post-graduation in the relevant area concerned.

D.El.Ed. or Diploma in Elementary Education is also a two-year program with an intake of 100 students. As in the case of the B.Ed. program, admission into D.El.Ed. is based on merit considering the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The selection process is made according to the regulation of the state government or UT administration for D.El.Ed. Candidates are generally required to have completed higher secondary education (10+2) by the state government.
