Shri Narayan Prasad Awasthi Government Ayurved College, Raipur Admission Process

Named after a notable Ayurvedic practitioner, Shri Narayan Prasad Awasthi Government Ayurved College in Raipur provides Ayurvedic education of the highest standard in the state of Chhattisgarh. It has established criteria for admissions through a merit-based national entrance examination, making this very competitive. Undergraduate admissions for this college are based on NEET results. The NEET exam is usually held sometime in May-June, and results are declared in July. Only those candidates who qualify NEET are invited to participate in the counseling process for admission to BAMS. The AIAPGET is also held in consideration for admission to Masters's in Ayuveda, MD, MS. The common entrance examination is generally held during July-August, with results released in September. 

Following this, the candidates are called for counseling based on their scores in AIAPGET. For admissions to their diploma programs, like Diploma in Panchakarma Sahayaka and Diploma in Pharmacist Ayurveda, the college depends on the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examinations by the Government of Chhattisgarh. Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in their HSE course. The beginning of the academic year falls in the time of August-September, each year. Interested students should be vigilant on a much more regular basis regarding the college's website and those of the respective exam authorities for confirmation of dates and further updates on the whole admission process.

Application Process

The college application procedure of Shri Narayan Prasad Awasthi Government Ayurved College differs according to the program:

For BAMS:

  1. Take the NEET examination.
  2. Register for state counseling after NEET result declaration.
  3. Fill out the college preference form during counseling.
  4. If seat allotted, proceed to report in college for document verification and admission.

MD/MS Ayurveda Programs:

  1. To appear for AIAPGET examination.
  2. To register for counseling after AIAPGET is over.
  3. Participate in the Counseling process, choosing the college and course.
  4. If selected, report in college with all required documents.

For Diploma Courses:

  1. After HSE results are declared, apply directly to the college.
  2. Fill out the application form with the necessary documents.
  3. Merit list based on HSE marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  4. Selected candidates are called for admission.

Documents are usually required:

  • NEET/AIAPGET score card (as applicable)
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • BAMS degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG courses)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate
  • Certificate of character
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photographs

Degree-wise Admission Process

This Ayurveda college has 75 BAMS seats. Admission to this course is through scores obtained by the candidate in the NEET. The candidates should have completed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects. Admission is by centralized counseling on merit on NEET.

MD in Ayurvedic medicine: Different MD in Ayurveda specializations offered by the college are Medicine (5 seats), Samhita and Basic Principles of Ayurveda (3 seats), Anatomy (3 seats), Pathology and Diagnostic Procedures (6 seats), Materia Medica and Pharmacology (6 seats), Physiology (6 seats), Paediatrics (6 seats), and Social & Preventive Medicine (6 seats), and Toxicology & Forensic Medicine (6 seats). Admission is based on AIAPGET scores. Candidates must be BAMS from a NCISM-recognized college.

MS in Ayurveda: 3 seats are available for MS in Ayurveda for General Surgery, and admission criteria are the same for MD.

Diploma Programs: For the Diploma in Panchakarma Sahayaka and Diploma in Pharmacist Ayurveda (30 seats each), candidates are admitted based on HSE marks. Candidates must have cleared HSE with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects under the Chhattisgarh Government.
