Sibsagar Commerce College, Sivasagar Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college library has a collection of 21,348 books, which include 12,251 textbooks and 9,097 reference books. The number of Magazines/Periodicals subscribed to by the library is thirteen, and the number of journals subscribed to is six. The number of newspapers in English is eight, and the Assamese ones are two. Other facilities in the library include Book-Bank, Reprographic facility, Internet, etc. Students may borrow books from the college library with issued cards. There are sufficient books for each subject. The working hours of the library are from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. The library has a good selection of other books, and it can fulfill the needs of the students and teachers alike. The library has a collection of rare books that can be used as reference material. There is a reading room attached to the library. Students can read the reference books, daily newspapers, and journals provided. Books are also lent from the Book-Bank to the poor and meritious students.

The college's Sports Committee of Sibsagar Commerce College strives to bring students together and build an active sports environment. The Committee aspires every individual to inculcate sportsmanship, team spirit, and bonding. The college encourages the student community in competitive sports and other recreational activities. The students have participated in various national tournaments organized by recognized clubs of the country, inter-colleges, inter-district, inter-state, college, and National competitions and have secured distinguished positions. The students of Sibsagar Commerce College have brought consecutive glory to the college by securing gold, silver, and bronze medals in various inter-college competitions. The college is well equipped with an indoor stadium and an outdoor field where students are encouraged to plan and organize various competitions in sports like cricket, football, table tennis, volleyball, badminton etc. The college sports committee ensures the smooth functioning of the sports events and maintains a record of students who participate in various tournaments organized within the college, intercolleges, interdistricts, and interstate colleges.

The college has a Computer Laboratory that is well equipped with the latest technology. The college has two Computer laboratories with modern amenities, having a total of 69 computers with internet/Wi-Fi facilities. There is also one digital design lab with Logical Gates and circuits that is accessible to the students as per their allotted class hours. The Computer Lab includes the latest software, hardware, and networking LAN facility with high-speed fiber optics connections. It provides various resources of IT, computer technologies,s and other reading resources that are accessible to all the students and teaching staff for learning purposes.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The college has a new cafeteria, which is located inside the college premises and has been functioning efficiently since 2022. The hostellers, day scholars, teaching and non-teaching staff are provided meals by assuring food quality, food hygiene and safety. The college canteen has filtered water available to every student and other official and teaching staff. The student common dining area can accommodate almost 50 students, and there is a different dining area for teaching and non-teaching staff.

The college has a good network for the alumni association.

The college has separate hostels for Boys. The old hostel has 20 seats, and the new hostel has 25 seats. The hostel is accommodated with spacious areas for students provided with beds, tables, chairs, steel lockers, and a sanitary napkin vending machine. There is a separate meeting room where the warden can address the concerns of the residents. The mess functioned by women cooks who are appointed by the college. The hostel provides purified drinking water and rainwater harvesting. The hostel committee conducts counseling sessions as well as training sessions for its students on self-help development.  

There are separate hostels for Girls. Girls' Hostel: There are two girls' hostels that are located inside the campus. The old hostel has 20 seats, and the new hostel has 25 seats. The hostel is accommodated with spacious areas for students provided with a bed, table, chair, steel locker, and sanitary napkin vending machine. The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The Campus is partially wifi enabled.

The college has well equipped Medical Cell. The Medical cell gives utmost importance to health, sanitation and hygiene. The college has medical/first aid kits in college premises as well as in each hostel. In case of emergencies the student is taken to the nearest hospital along with one medical committee member.

The college has a Placement Cell facility for all students.

The college also encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities.
