The Times School of Journalism has a rigorous admission process that starts with an all-India entrance test. The entrance test is particularly designed to test the interest of the candidate in journalism along with general awareness of the surrounding current affairs of the country and the world as a whole. The entrance test typically takes place annually, with fixed dates differing from year to year. Good performers in the entry test are chosen for the next stages of the admission process.
Following the entrance exam, shortlisted candidates are invited to sit for a written test. This test also evaluates the candidates' writing skills, analytical ability, and subject matter knowledge pertaining to the study of journalism. The final stage of the selection process is a personal interview conducted by the faculty. It is a one-year full-time postgraduate diploma intended to equip students with everything they require for a successful career in journalism in today's media landscape. Times School of Journalism admission to this programme is by all-India entrance test, followed by which the shortlisted candidates are interviewed personally. The course is framed to provide theoretical knowledge along with practical skills in journalism to prepare the students with the abilities required for the constantly changing media industry.
