About Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Delhi

Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication (VSJMC) was set up in the year 2000 and is located in Delhi, India. Located in the liveliness of Pitampura, this affiliated college has evolved the media professional of tomorrow for over twenty years. The institute occupies a compact but effectively developed area of 5 acres, which ensures the best conditions for training future journalists and mass media specialists. Leading a patient-centric approach to its educational mission, VSJMC is staffed with a committed faculty of 29 members. Two specialised degree programmes are being offered by the college today, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the stream of journalism and mass communication.

The equipment adopted by VSJMC only aims at offering the students the best learning facilities with an opportunity to be exposed to modern facilities. A college library is another notable structure as a store of knowledge and students’ learning resources enriched by more than 10,000 books where subjects are focused on information technology, law, and journalism. Century Library and Information Science is fully air-conditioned and computerised, with technologically advanced services like book-on-line reservations and enough sitting space to accommodate 200 students.

It is with great pride that VSJMC has smart class eye-wash classrooms well-equipped with smart, interactive whiteboards and multimedia projectors to complement learning. Another fact that reflects the college’s developing focus is the college’s computer lab, which is filled with the highest quality computers and legitimate copy software so that the students will always be in a position to embrace technological advancement in media production.

VSJMC offers two full-time courses: A three-year duration undergraduate programme offered is Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BA JMC) and a two-year postgraduate programme offered is Master of Arts in Mass Communication (MA MC). Such programmes are intended to give knowledge about the media environment as well as theoretical and practical skills. Most of the college programmes aim at producing graduates to respond to challenges in the volatile world of journalism and mass communication and the need for additional tools to work as journalists and communicators.

The admissions plan of VSJMC ensures that only such individuals are admitted in the course who have the passion and ability to make a good journalist and a good communicator in the mass media. While specific admission dates and exam details are not provided, prospective students are advised to regularly check the college website, which applicants should visit to find information on application processes and when they close. The talent development is evident in various facilities within the college, such as a spacious and well-equipped college auditorium, an active and colourful college cafeteria and other sports amenities that augment the development of the learners.

Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Delhi Admission

Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Delhi, synonymously called VSJMC, was started as a premier institution for making fine media professionals of the tomorrow age. The college is set with specialized degree programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both journalism and mass communication. The selection of candidates at VSJMC is based on an admission procedure aiming to best suit passionate and able people who have an innate capability to excel in the ultra-dynamic field of media and communication.

Basically, VSJMC admissions occur through the Common Entrance Test applicable to all courses, thereby making the selection of candidates fair and competitive. Any remaining vacant seats after the CET merit list will be filled on the basis of the merit list of the Common University Entrance Test. This two-tier admission process helps in throwing open to the institution a very healthy mix of talented applicants.

Admission Process

All programs in the Vivekananda School of Journalism and Mass Communication have the same processes of application, which include:

1. Common Entrance Test (CET): A candidate intending to secure entry in CVS must first appear for the CET.

2. CUET Scores: Depending on the answering, applicants should also consider taking the Common Universal Entrance Test as a fallback, as these are used to fill vacant seats after the merit list based on the CET is exhausted.

3. Merit List Preparation: The university prepares its merit list by using the CET scores. For vacant places, merit list is separately prepared using CUET scores.

4. Document Submission: Candidates are now required to submit the identified essential documents. While specifics on what should be provided have not been specified, it is wise for candidates to keep all general education certificates, ID proofs, and any other such documents that may be relevant for the college handy.

5. Admission Confirmation: Admission is thereafter confirmed once verification of documents has taken place and the stipulated eligibility has been met by the candidate.

6. Fee Payment: After confirming admission, the candidates must pay the stipulated amount to complete the admission process.

Admission Process Degree-wise

BA Journalism and Mass Communication (BA JMC): This is a three-year undergraduation program conducted by VSJMC. Admission to the BA JMC happens through the CET merit. Vacancies that remain after exhausting the CET merit list will be announced on CUET merit. The course has about 180 approved intakes; this large-size class will allow maximum interaction and learning.

BJMC II shift: VSJMC offers Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication under a second shift as well. The admissions pattern for this program also happens like the BA JMC, whereas the major admissions happen based on CET merits, followed by CUET scores for remaining empty seats. There is an approved intake of 120 students for this program, which gives an important second opportunity for the aspiring journalists and media professionals.

MA Mass Communication: At postgraduate level, VSJMC offers a two-year MA program in Mass Communication. The admission procedure for this course also depends on CET list, and if seats remain unoccupied, CUET is taken into consideration. The MA program has 40 approved intakes, thus ensuring a more concentrated and specialized environment during postgraduate studies.
