About WGSHA Manipal
Manipal University’s WGSHA is a constituent college in Manipal, Karnataka, established in 1986. This reputed institute is also called WGSHA Manipal and has set its focus and place in the field of hospitality education. With 641.81 acres of land, WGSHA provides for five distinctive courses in hospitality and culinary arts. It has a student strength of 1391 pupils, and the faculty covers 53 members of teaching staff, and this student/teacher ratio provides personal care and better learning. WGSHA believes in maintaining the highest standards in each of its offerings through curriculum, infrastructure, and programmes that align with the industry.
It has a wonderful list of facilities, all aimed at ensuring that the student gets the best learning experience. The campus facilities include fast connectivity to the internet to allow students to undertake online searches. WGSHA currently has a well-stocked library with books, CD-ROMs, project reports, DVDs, and other electronic resources available for students in hotel management and allied industries. Labs at the institute are spacious and well furnished for different departments and serve multi-purpose needs. The IT infrastructure is specifically remarkable, with over one hundred smart PCs with LAN & Internet facilities and other specific package installations like Opera, Diet Cal, multimedia tools, etc. for academic use. To support the culinary artists of tomorrow and hospitality industry managers, WGSHA has equipped its kitchens and training restaurants with contemporary equipment. The institute also maintains adequate hostels for boys and girls with all the modern facilities for an effective living and learning environment.
In all, WGSHA now offers five full-time courses, turning out both undergraduate and postgraduate degree holders. These programmes are offered hoping to cover the challenges experienced in the hospitality industry and the culinary field. The programmes include the applauded BHM, BA Culinary Arts, MHM, M.Sc Dietetics & Applied Nutrition, and MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture. Each programme and course is designed to integrate both the delivery of theoretical and vocationally based education so that students may have the appropriate skills to succeed in their professional endeavours.

A very selective criterion is followed in WGSHA for admission into these courses; hence, only deserving candidates can make it to these programmes. For other undergrad graduate programmes such as BHM and BA Culinary Arts, the entry is merit-based. Some of the programmes admit students based on scores obtained on the Manipal Entrance Test, abbreviated as MET. The MHM, M.Sc. Dietetics and Applied Nutrition and MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture relevant postgraduate courses have more options of selection. Welcome group Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Manipal University, Manipal, is one of the most prestigious institutions in the world for hospitality education. WGSHA offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in hotel management, culinary arts, and related fields. The admission process at WGSHA is designed to select the most deserving candidates who demonstrate a passion for the hospitality industry. The admission cycle of WGSHA starts from October every year, where it opens its applications for MET, the entrance test for the respective programs of the college. The application date for MET 2025 will run from October 14, 2024, to March 15, 2025. MET is held in an online manner; therefore, a candidate can sit for this exam on a convenient date and time of their choice.
Admissions into Undergraduate courses include BHM, BA in Culinary Arts where the process of selections is more based on merit and performance criteria where the short list is formed upon the candidates' performance in 10+2 examinations along with MET scores for post graduate level courses: such as Master of Hotel Management, M. Sc. Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, and M. A in Indian Cuisine and Food Culture admission process. All the short-listed candidates receive an online application for these courses along with a personal interview.
Application Process
The application process for WGSHA varies a little depending on the program:
1. MET is applied through the official website. The dates for applying to MET 2025 are from October 14, 2024, to March 15, 2025.
2. Filling up the online application form with all personal and academic details.
3. Payment of the application fee.
4. Appear in the MET. The exams are online, and students can choose their convenient date and time.
5. Results and merit list for Undergraduate programs that include BHM and BA Culinary Arts on the basis of MET scores and 10+2 performance.
6. Candidates shortlisted for PG programs: MHM, M.Sc Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture would be called for a personal interview.
7. The last pick for the post graduate program will be taken from the ones eligible on the basis of qualification test and Personal Interview with the candidate.
8. The Provisional Admission Notice will be sent to selected candidates
9. Final admission formalities must be completed with attaching necessary documents along with payment of course fee.

Degree wise Admission Process
BHM (Bachelor of Hotel Management): The admissions to the BHM course will be purely based on merit. The candidate should have passed 10+2 from a recognized board. The selection process includes the candidate's performance in 10+2 results and MET scores.
BA Culinary Arts: Again, the BHM admission process is merit-based. The admissions for BA Culinary Arts are also merit-based. Here again, the selection process depends on the candidate's 10+2 results and MET performance.
MHM (Master of Hotel Management): The process of admission into the MHM program is based strictly on merit. Details regarding other requirements are not specified, though a bachelor's degree from a relevant area and sometimes, an interview.
M.Sc Dietetics and Applied Nutrition: It has an online application followed by a Personal Interview (PI). The final merit list is drawn up based on the candidate's performance in their qualifying examination and the PI.
MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture: Students have to apply online, after which they undergo a Personal Interview. I believe that the college has the best infrastructure in terms of being a hotel management College with state of the art classrooms, fully equipped kitchens, training rooms for each department. Got a beautiful library.

College Infrastructure
WGSHA has one of the best infrastructure among all the other hospitality colleges in India. One of the main reason I chose WGSHA without looking the ROI is it's infrastructure. They use advanced technologies and equipments. Provides WI-FI, Hostel, Mess, Indoor and outdoor sports arena and many other facilities for the students and staff. New WGSHA building has helped us immensely for our placements with its new equipments and facilities. The mess food is also the best. I haven't been sick even for a day after eating from the campus mess.
Giving a review to my college was a wonderful experience.

College Infrastructure
When it comes to infrastructure, my College truly stands out. Pursuing a BA in Culinary arts meant that I spent a lot of time in kitchens, and I can confidently say that they were world class. Apart from the kitchen the overall infrastructure of the campus was equally impressive. The classrooms were modern, spacious and well-lit creating a great atmosphere for learning.There was a culinary museum which had all the old utensils and pots.overall the infrastructure of my college played a huge role in shaping my learning experience.
