Chemical engineering has a lot of job opportunities in the near future and you will surely gain something in this branch. If you don't want to be working in fields and mining area in future, then chemical engineering is best for you.

The placement and job opportunities of the university mainly for the B-Tech is very good. Nearly 90% of students get placement every year with an annual package of Rs 4 lac to 2 crores. That's the reason it is India's top 10 university(Non-IIT). The placements in chemical engineering is also quite good .Nearly 50% of the students get placed in core companies through campus placement drives. Various consultancies and private banks like HSBC also recruit from JU. UOP Honeywell, Vendant Resources, Carin India, L&T, Reliance Petroleum, Bharat petroleum, Haldia Petroleum, HSBC Bank, ZS Associates, Actors India Limited etc. Company placed almost 100% of batch Strength, Some students get double, triple, tetra packages. The highest amount of package is 18LPA. Test for internship, various interviews are taken in the third year. They also get selected for internship in TATA STEEL . Many reputed companies like Goldman Sachs, Tata Steel, L&T , Adobe, etc come here for interviews for placements and internship. For internship stipend varies across companies.

Your question is right because it's going to be a decade with this misconception, people think that CS has more scope than IT which is totally incorrect. Both have different roles and have different careers. Scope in both the branch is similar.
