Hello,
The students aspiring to pursue B. arch must possess a creative mind and drawing skills.
The exam contains questions related to architecture making it necessary for the students to be familiar with famous national and international buildings.
- Instead of learning by rote, focus on understanding the concept before moving on to the next topic. Refer to both Class XI and XII books for Maths especially.
- Divide your syllabus in monthly and weekly segments and assign practical targets to achieve them.
- Work on your observation skills and drawing to prepare for the Aptitude and Drawing tests. You may join a coaching class for drawing practice.
- Utilize your Engineering Drawing notes for 2D/3D questions’ preparation.
- Clear your doubt at the earliest to avoid any confusion later.

kindly mention the aptitude tests conducted by different companies for non engineers. please answer
Hi lekshmi j,
Almost all of the multi national companies conducts aptitude test in the process of hiring freshers. Having cleared aptitude tests of all major IT companies (like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Mindtree, HP)
Generally, an aptitude test is divided in 3 sections -
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Logical Reasoning
- Verbal Ability
Some companies may include essay writing for an advance check of verbal ability and programming test to check the domain knowledge.
Quantitative aptitude checks an individual’s ability to solve mathematical and numerical problems. These include variety of topics like-
• Problems on Trains
• Height and Distance
• Simple Interest & Compound Interest
• Profit and Loss
• Percentage
• Calendar
• Average
• Volume and Surface Area
• Numbers
• Problems on H.C.F and L.C.M
• Chain Rule

Logical Reasoning as the name suggests checks an individual’s ability to understand the logic and also the approach of an individual to a particular problem. Some topics to prepare for are as follows –

Verbal Ability simply checks an individual’s knowledge of English language. This section is sometimes referred to as the most scoring section of the test. Questions are asked from the following topics –
• Spotting Errors
• Antonyms
• Spellings
• Ordering of Words
• Sentence Improvement
• Ordering of Sentences
• Closet Test
• One Word Substitutes
• Change of Voice
• Verbal Analogies
• Synonyms
• Selecting Words
• Sentence Formation
• Sentence Correction
• Completing Statements
• Paragraph Formation
• Comprehension
• Idioms and Phrases
• Change of Speech
In my personal experience I used to find quantitative aptitude the easiest section followed by verbal ability and logical reasoning. One needs to prepare well for all the sections in order to pass the test as some companies will keep sectional cut-offs, so you need to prepare and clear all 3 sections in order to pass the assessment.
How to prepare?
The answer to this question is simple you need to invest your time. Every day you need to pick a topic go through the theory part first and then pick up questions related to that topic and start solving. Next day starts with a new topic. Weekends are meant for revisions. All the topics which you are preparing needs revision or else your whole preparation will become worthless. In this way you can cover all topics of all the sections within a time span of 45 days.
From where to prepare?
There are numerous resources available online to prepare. You can go through YouTube videos explaining a particular topic or you can go through articles associated with that particular topic. I suggest preparing from YouTube and the channel I recommend is Career Ride. You can even prepare from book, the book which I recommend is Quantitative Aptitude by Dr R. S. Aggarwal.
Finally, I would only like to suggest that clearing aptitude test is not a matter of luck. You need to work on it. You need to keep yourself motivated and daily try to cover at least 1 topic.
All the best for your future !!
