I have done my 12th in arts can i do a nursing course m looking for a job in canada which course will be good in nursing

S. Saha Student Expert 7th Mar, 2020

For three years B.Sc Nursing, you must have passed 10+2 in science subjects with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

But there are few diploma courses one can do even if she/he had arts in 12. After 12th Commerce or Arts stream schooling, students are eligible to pursue two Diploma certificate nursing courses. They are-

Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).

The basic eligibility is, successful completion of class 12 from a recognized educational board. Those who have science subjects in 10+2, are preferred most. But students from arts and commerce are also eligible.

Well it depends on which degree course you are looking for. For all the masters course and sometimes for PhD courses you will have to give GRE or similar tests even if the university mentions that it is optional. And GMAT is for management aspirants. So it depend s on which degree you are looking for.

i have completed my bsc in psychology, its a 3 year degree ,i want to do masters in psychology in canada, without pg diploma course is tht possible? if so in which University ? if its a no, can u pls suggest some good universities offering pg diploma related to psychology

Pompi Bhadra 22nd Mar, 2020
Hello Sushma!

Firstly, let's see what are the minimum requirements to be eligible for pursuing post graduation in a good Canadian University (as an international student from India) :-

i) 3-4 years bachelor's degree in the respective course with atleast 75% and above.
ii) Proficiency in English language (IELTS, TOEFL, CAEL or PTE).
iii) A good GRE score ( minimum 300+)

Now, coming back to your question - YES, some of the universities in Canada offer M.Sc. in Psychology to students with a 3 years Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I've checked the eligibility for Indian international students in University of Lethbridge's (Alberta, Canada) site.

Now, a few colleges offering you M.Sc. in Psychology without a PG diploma course in Canada are:-

1) University of Lethbridge, Alberta
World Ranking : 1278th (in 2020)
National Ranking - 33rd ( in 2020)

2) TRENT University
National Ranking - 32nd (in 2019)
Fees (INR) : Approx. Rs 11,38,033/- p. a.

3) McMaster University
World Ranking : 72nd (in 2020)
National Ranking : 4th (2020)

4) University of Northern British Columbia
World Ranking : 801-1000th (in 2020)
National Ranking : 29th (in 2020)

5) University of Alberta
World Ranking : 136th (in 2020)
National Ranking: 6th (in 2020)
Fees (INR): Approx. Rs 5,06,488/- p. a.

6) Acadia University
Fees (INR) : Approx. Rs 6,73,231/- p. a.

7) Wilfrid Laurier University
World Ranking: 609th
National Ranking : 30th
Fees (INR) : Approx. Rs 10,72,856/-

and some others.

IELTS (6.5+) , TOEFL(80+), CAEL(60+) and PTE(60+) are all some of the accepted tests for proving Proficiency in English language, with their minimum required scores, respectively.

You may be asked by the institutes to hire a supervisor for you to guide you throughout the admission procedure. You may also need letters of recommendations, additionally.

Lastly, what is GRE? Well, it is Graduate Record Exam, with a duration of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Some of the institutions ask for a valid GRE (General) score to consider your admission. You can appear for it five times in a year through online mode.

I hope I've answered most part of your queries.

For any further help, feel free to ask in the comment section.
