Im a Geography Student, pursuing B.A Hons. in Geography...am I eligible for Civil Engineering ?

apoorvakomuravelly 11th Jun, 2021
Hi,
As GATE is for the entrance for post-graduate studies like ME/MTech you cannot apply to get into civil but have an opportunity to do M.Tech in Environmental Sciences.
Civil Engineering is a different stream comprising construction. You may better go for
  1. Masters in Environmental and Ecology.
  2. Masters in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science.
  3. Masters in Environment and Solid waste treatment.
  4. Masters in Environmental Science.

Civil Engineering contains steel structures and their placing and detailing apart from it civil engineering may contain environment-related but it does not directly reach for a B.A Students.

Im studying diploma in civil engineering in karnataka. How can I get into IIT Madras.

Sree Student Expert 8th Jun, 2021

Dear student,

To get admission into IITs you must qualify in JEE Advanced exam. To get qualified for JEE Advanced exam you should write JEE Mains. In IITs point of view, JEE Mains only provides eligibility for writing JEE Advanced.

So, there is not direct admission for lateral entry in IITs, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams are compulsory to get the seat in IITs. Most of the IITs, NITs or Colleges gives lateral entry opportunity. There will be few percentage of seats reserved for Lateral Entry students in most of the colleges in India.

Hope this information helped you.

Thank you!!

according to your rank predictor, one is getting rank around 2lakh by scoring 50-60 marks in jee mains.....which is good for me as I want to take admn in nsut civil engineering, so is it true that you can get rank of around 2 lakh by just 60 marks in mains exam?

ayanmukherjee045 5th Jun, 2021

Dear aspirant,

As you have mentioned that in 50-60 marks according to predictor you are obtaining around 2L. I would tell you that it is quite possible but at the same time I would tell that predictors are not 100% right but it can vary according to certain factors which needs to be taken into account like the difficulty level of the paper in that shift, quality of students appearing in that shift.

Coming to nsut for getting civil, considering you as a general candidate you cannot even think of getting civil here because atleast 97 percentile is needed to get nsut civil.

sharondevan05 5th Jun, 2021

Dear Aspirant,

MIT can  satisfy you in the terms of every field, like teaching, placements, events etc.

Placements:                                                                 The placements are really good. The different companies will come and will  recruit the student's from the different branches. The average salary package is around Rs.4 LPA, and in  the last year the highest package was offered for the  Petroleum department around Rs.18 LPA.                                                                                                   I can say that the improvement of the placements is improving every year.

Infrastructure:                                                                This college has the best infrastructure in Pune. Most of the Bollywood shootings are conducted near the library of this college. There are parks and even gymkhana. There is huge tomb above our main library which is called Saint Dhyaneshware library.

Faculty:                                                                   Faculty of the  college is one of the best faculties. Some experienced professors have 20-30 years of teaching experience. There are different professors for the various departments who can  give there best to make the students understand in every detail of the subject. They are always there for the students who need help. They will help the student  to get good knowledge in the topic.

Other:.                                                                           MIT conducted some of the  events that are really happening.  This will never disappoint students with its creative events.

These are the best civil engineering collages in Pune :

Dear friends, Kindly Let us know the best college for Civil Engineering, out of the following 1. PSG Coimbatore 2. Shiv Nadar Noida 3. MIT Pune 4. Any other good colleges (Pl suggest name)

sharondevan05 5th Jun, 2021

Dear Aspirant,

PSG Coimbatore collage of civil engineering is One of the best colleges in Coimbatore  as any one can dream of it.

Placements:                                                                 When we come to the knowledge of placements in this college, they  are actually good. Many students has not  opted for placement, but many students have got placed in many good companies with good salary packages, and their lifestyle has completely changed since then. The placement opportunities are very good for people in computer stream compared to mechanical stream.

Infrastructure:                                                                                                                                                      The infrastructure of this campus is really good. This campus is surrounded by trees  all around. The food served in the canteen is good. The college has many hotels in the neighborhood so provides us with  everything.

Faculty: The faculty of  this college is very helpful, they are always ready to spare time for us so that we can do well in academics. Mostly, all the staffs in my department are very experienced .

Shiv Nadar Noida collage of civil engineering:

according to me, this  is one of the best universities of India. They  are provided with top class facilities and infrastructure along with expert faculty members, at an affordable fee of 75000 per year.  The research about the universitiy based on which makes the students focus more on technical innovation rather than jobs.

MIT - PUNE COLLAGE OF CIVIL ENGINEERING :

There are good infrastructure and faculty members, but the placements are below average.

Placements: Not even a single core company visited our college to offer jobs for B.Tech in civil course. They informed that core companies would visit here in the month of January. Even February is also going to end, but none of the companies has visited yet. Although the placements for CS and ENTC are good, as said by my friends of those streams. There is no complete correct information about placements.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the civil department is the best amongst all other branches. There are really huge classrooms and laboratories, and almost all the required equipment is available in ample number.

Faculty: The trimester pattern is much better than the semester pattern followed by SPPU. The trimester pattern reduces the pressure of providing 6 papers at a time and gives additional chances to pass in the subjects. The civil department has very qualified and knowledgeable teachers, and most of them have M.Tech from IITs or have a PhD.                                                                                                                                                             Other best colleges:

2. IIT, Delhi

3. IIT, Kanpur

4. IIT, Kharagpur

5. IIT, Madras

6. IIT, Roorkee

7. BITS Pilani

8. IIT BHU Varanasi
