Coding
Hello student,
Sorry to say you but within one year it may not be possible as you have no your coding knowledge and not the experience. For that you have to choose your masters course wisely according to the data science field. You have to do some further research on this topic. Actually e the tier is not not a barrier at all. You have to learn some best coding like R python C node etc. You also can do some online certification course. After completing your masters you can become a data scientist.
Hello,
First Start with the fundamentals - C, data structures & algorithms. C teaches you fundamental low level programming concepts that other modern languages like Java, Python, C# etc.
Once a strong foundation is built in first year, move to a modern programming language - C# or Java or Python (any one) in second year. If possible, participate in online coding competitions.
In 3rd year, you can start with JS and try to learn any front end framework like Angular or React or any other JS library. Again, do sufficient practice to gain mastery and participate in hackathons. Along with this, try to learn SQL & RDBMS. This would complete your full stack learning journey.
In 4th year, try to incorporate your learning so far in a project by building a complete application with front end, back end and database. Publish your code to Git; learn some basic Git commands to manage your source code.
I would strictly advise against picking up any tool like Salesforce or SAP or any fancy technology like AI or ML at this stage. No one expects a fresh college passout to be ML expert or Salesforce expert. They expect someone with strong programming knowledge and problem solving ability; choice of technology or language doesn’t matter.
Good Luck!
Firstly keep one thing in mind, most of the people who are joining in either B. Tech / Bsc with computer science specialization after completing their 12th are not having knowledge of coding. Simply a basic knowledge of Computer is what required for joining into computer science course. Rest leave it your professors in the college, they will teach coding from scratch with projects. So no worries, if you are passionate about coding then you can happily join the course and learn everything there.

Hi Sourabh, before getting into iit if you are focusing on the coding skills, I would suggest start with C, then ,C++, python etc. It depends what sort of branch you are aiming for. This is beneficial whether you are a cse,IT or and ECE student. In order to command English, start with reading small articles from magazines and try out books and novels. Enusre whenever you encounter new word, you find its meaning and learn it too. There are Courses available on udemy, Coursera in order to develop new skills.
All the best.
Look, you may have interest in Software, Analytics or Finance but that doesnt imply not giving attention to your current Mechanical curriculum. Firstly you should keep up with your Course Curriculum and Tests and ensure you maintain a CGPA above 8, before you venture and start working on your own interests.
Now coming to the Software Part, most of the NITs entertain wide number of Software and Finance Companies during Placements and Internships. You need to first master the Three main Programming Languages namely C/C++/Python followed by regular practice of Competitive Programming on platforms like HackerRank or CodeForces. Besides this you also need to develop skills in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence as well as Data Analytics, which are equally critical for a career in Tech Fields followed by a Couple of Internships in Software Development/Machine Learning/Data Analytics. In todays date lot of Virtual Resources are available for aceing in any area like Courses from Udemy, Coursera and EDx as well as Virtual Internships amd Trainings from Providers like Forage and InsideSherpa.
