Is open university ug degree eligible for cat or mba colleges like iim
Yes, candidates who have obtained UG degree from an Open University can appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT), and can get admission to IIMs as well. According to the official website of the CAT, the minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the entrance exam is that candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% marks for candidates who belong to SC, ST, and PwD category) awarded by any of the university incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as the university under the section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
I have 93% in 10th 85% in 12th and around 65% in BBA General Category no work ex How much percentile should I have to get call from IIM A
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the first and the most important component to get admission to the IIM Ahmedabad. In order to get admission to IIM A, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. However, scoring a mere percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call as IIM Ahmedabad has a very complex admission process.
IIM Ahmedabad gives consideration to a lot of factors while giving an interview call. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. Having no work experience will not hamper your selection chances but you will not get points allotted for the work experience. Your first priority should be to clear both the overall percentile of 80 and sectional percentile of 70 in each section.
If you even score somewhere around 99 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm Interview call. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission to the institute.
The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process and during your final selection. Therefore, you have good chances to get admission in IIM Ahmedabad subject to the condition that you must perform well in the CAT followed by the WATPI process.

Hello I have scored 91% in 10th 72% in 12th and 75% in graduation. also i have been active in various extra curricular activities including management and leader of NSS for a year and i am a B Pharm graduate. what are my chances of getting into IIM A/B/C or should i aim for other exams ?
Hi!
The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation are quite good. However, whether you will get admission in IIM Ahmedabad , IIM Bangalore or IIM Calcutta will primarily depend upon the percentile obtained by you in the CAT followed by your performance in the WATPI/ GDPI round conducted by these institutes. Your participation in various extra-curricular activities might give you an edge during the Interview process but will not help you to get a shortlist for the Interview round or final admission. You will be required to score good percentile in the CAT and must perform very well during the Interview round. Apart from the CAT, you can appear for the other management entrance tests such as XAT , SNAP, NMAT , MICAT, etc. and must consider other top business schools apart from the IIMs to increase the chances of your admission.
I got 96% in cbse class 12th and 86% in cbse class 12th(Science-PCM). I am B.tech Graduate. Can I get the IIM Bangalore call if I score above 99.90%ile in CAT
Yes, scoring above 99.9 percentile in CAT significantly increases your chances of getting a call from IIM Bangalore, with your academic background. Here's why:
-
High CAT Score: A score exceeding 99.9 percentile is exceptional and puts you amongst the top candidates vying for admission. IIM Bangalore prioritizes CAT scores heavily in the shortlisting process.
-
Strong Academics: Your 96% in CBSE 12th and a B.Tech degree demonstrate a solid academic foundation, which IIM Bangalore also considers during shortlisting.
However, the shortlisting process is multifaceted:
- Other Factors: IIM Bangalore considers other factors beyond CAT scores, such as your work experience (if any), XAT score (if you appear for it), academic diversity, gender diversity, and performance in the interview and Written Ability Test (WAT) stages (if shortlisted).
Here's what you can do to strengthen your application:
-
Focus on WAT and PI: If you receive a shortlist, prepare extensively for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). These stages assess your communication, soft skills, leadership potential, and suitability for the program.
-
Work Experience (if applicable): If you have work experience, highlight your achievements and how they align with your chosen IIM Bangalore program.
Overall, with a stellar CAT score and a strong academic background, you have a very good chance of getting a call from IIM Bangalore. But remember to prepare comprehensively for the other stages of the selection process.
