How can i qualify for bsc in Biology at iisc?

NAVEEN MEENA Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019
Dear aspirant, The selection to the B.Sc. program of IISc is based on the merit list of Kishore Vaigyanik Proashan Yojana (KVPY) examination, JEE-Main, JEE- Advanced, and NEET. There is a reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and Kashmiri-Migrant candidates.
Minimum marks that candidate should have secured is first class (60%) in qualifying exam. For SC / ST candidates, this relaxed to pass class.
Once the applications are received, and candidates marks obtained in the respective exams is known the institute, candidates are placed in order or merit. A cut off percentage is determined for admission through each stream (KVPY SA, KVPY SB, KVPY SX, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET).
Candidates whose marks are more than the IISc  Cut Off, will be offered admissions to the four years Bachelor of Science (Research) programme.
All the best
Hope this helps

NAVEEN MEENA Student Expert 14th Nov, 2019

Dear Sampath, let me clear your confusion first,IISc doesn't offer any course at undergraduate level - B.E/B.Tech- in Aeronautical engineering. Although BSc if offered in IISc.

M.Tech in Aeronautical engineering is offered but for that you have to give gate exam and after clearing that you will be called for personal interview.

On the basis of your performance you will be given admission.

what is the minimum required jee mains percentile for iisc banglore?

rehan18alam Student Expert 10th Nov, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

Admission into IISC Bangalore is not by the JEE mains but through JEE advanced. You should clear the cutoff of JEE mains and then have to be in top 20 Percentile of your respective boards to be eligible for JEE advanced.

Once you have comply with the above criterias, you will be needing a minimum of 500 Rank in JEE advanced open category to get admission into IISC.

Hope this helps. Thank you.

hai thanks the answer o iisc b I do need about NEST how many students appear for Nest exam how is it different from Mains and advanced does preparing for mains help for Nest the total number of seats is said to around 200 Are there any other core research centres who admit +2 student

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 28th Oct, 2019
Hello,

The National Entrance Screening Test  (popularly known as NEST) is an annual college entrance examination in India, conducted for admission into the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar (NISER) and the Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. These two institutes use NEST as a sole criterion for admission to their undergraduate programs.

As of 2018, the total intake of NISER and UM-DAE CBS is 200+2 students and 45+2 students respectively (where two seats in each college are reserved for students belonging to the state of Jammu and Kashmir).

The NEST question paper has five sections. The first section, which is compulsory for all candidates, includes general questions. The next four sections includes questions on (1) Biology, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics and (4) Physics. Candidates may opt to answer any three of the four sections if they are willing to get admission in CBS, otherwise they have to answer from all the sections if they are willing to get in the merit list of NISER. All sections carry equal marks. The questions are aimed at testing the comprehension and analytic ability of the candidates. The questions are of objective type with four answers given for each question. There may only be one relatively correct answer for each question. Wrong answers are awarded negative marks .

Syllabus of jee mains and nest are to some extent same. The level of question asked in NEST involves thinking and some calculation so its one level tougher than particularly jee mains.
Though NEST can be considered a bit tougher than jee mains but JEE advance is a lot tougher than NEST so if you are preparing for JEE rigorously then you can perform well in NEST regardless of seats intake.
Just keep one thing in mind that for cracking NEST your knowledge concepts need to be very strong .

I hope this helps
