Can i get any nit if my jee main 2020 rank is 134531 and i belong to general category?

Akram Khan 14th Sep, 2020

Hi,

It is difficult to tell your surely about your chances of admission. As tue cutoff changes every year depending on category, number of seat available, number of candidate applied, difficulty level of exam.

However  by analysing the previous year cutoff as a general category the chance seems less to get a seat in NITs with this rank.

however you can try for state counseling like Punjab, Haryana, MP, Etc.

To know your admission chances in JOSSA & State counseling you can use JEE Main college Predictor tool.

Anurag Khanna 14th Sep, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

According to the category rank you have mentioned in the question you cannot get any of the NITs as per previous year's cut-offs even after considering your Home State quota but I would suggest you to sit for some state counselling because in some of the state government colleges you can get admission on such ranks. Some colleges in which you can try are enlisted below :-

  • MIT Pune
  • SRM Institute of Technology and Science
  • RTU Kota
  • Engineering college, Bikaner
  • Sharda University
  • School of Engineering, UPES Dehradun

For complete list of colleges on such lower rank, refer to the link given below :-

Note that the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors.

So you can use JEE-Main College Predictor to predict your chances of admission in different engineering colleges of India :-

I hope this information helps you.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 14th Sep, 2020

hi,

see cutoff score depends on certain category like number of applicants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix, students category , domicile etc. you did not disclose about your category and domicile of states, which is Important to predict the probable colleges. since nits has 85% seats reserve for the domicile candidates. however based on jee main score there is various private colleges takes admission like sastra university, amity university, srm institute of technology, however you have to apply for college website for private colleges.,

Saurabh kishor 13th Sep, 2020

Dear student,

Congrats! For getting  82 percentile in JEE Mains 2020 . But you did not mentioned your Category (OBC/GEN/ST/EWS/ Sc) so only basis of your percentile, It will difficult to say which college  you will get because In Home State NITs Colleges  there is benefits of Home State quota and also Category wise quota. If you mention full detail then we will help you to select best college for you.

Although, on the basis of Common rank list (CRL)  82 percentile is not for more sufficient for get admission on good NITs colleges.

But, There are some good  government/ private  college name, where you can get admission with lower branches like civil Engineering , chemical  Engineering, etc.

  • Pondicherry Engineering College / Puducherry technological university ,
  • Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu,
  • PSG combatore
  • LPU
  • Thapar university
