Here are the features required for a CSE student:-

• Intel (or AMD equivalent) i5 or better processor, 7th generation or newer (Virtualization must be supported)
• Windows 10 Operating System.
• 1920 x 1080 or greater screen resolution.
• 500 GB or larger SSD.
• Minimum 8 GB of RAM (12GB -16GB RAM recommended)
• Webcam required, etc

This may depend upon your college hostel. You should call them up and ask whether they will let you set up a desktop in your room and you may require to take permission for the same.

But I would suggest that having a laptop is more convenient as you can carry it around with you like when you go to the college, or library or have to travel.

But if you think you need a desktop, then call the hostel management and ask them if you will get permission for the same.

The battery backup and life expectancy of any laptop depends on how the person uses and maintenance it on an individual basis.

If you are using the laptop in a controlled manner, then the battery backup will sustain nearly 4 to maximum 5 hours. But, as the use will gradually increase, the lifetime will get decreased to 2 to 3 hours in most cases.

Please ensure that you have a stable internet connection as that may be the problem because of which you can not login. Also make sure that you are entering the user id and the password correctly. Also if there is heavy traffic to the network ( many people are trying to access it at the same time) then there maybe a delay and you may find difficulty to login. In that case please try after sometime. If you feel the internet connection is not stable then I would suggest that you go to an internet cafe and login and complete the procedure.
