qualifying jee mains and jee advance are helpful for clearing upsc exam or not???

Abhishek Roy 23rd Dec, 2020

Though not academically but preparing and aceing JEE Mains and Advanced does help a candidate psychologicaly for UPSC CSE Examination. You learn.how to make day to day strategies from a proper test taking strategy to strategic selection of study material as well as a regular time table which helps you to revise strategically. You gain a lot of confidence once you qualify JEE Advanced, amd perhaps it is the reason of this same instilled confidence due which so many IITians and NITians qualify examinations like CAT, UPSC ESE and UPSC CSE. Besides this you make a lot of mistakes and experience a lot of failures during course of your JEE Preparation which serve as life lessons for the rest of your professional life as well as during UPSC CSE Preparation. I would perhaps say the Journey of JEE Preparation from a Candidate at Coaching Centers to the Last Paper of JEE Advanced makes you a more mature and better individual.

pdwords Student Expert 21st Dec, 2020

Hello,

First of all in order to appear for UPSC, candidates are required to pass Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university, hence definitely with BAMS degree you're eligible for the same. Medical Science is there as an optional subject which you can consider, the syllabus is quite vast yet static but if we see in recent times then many topper have succeeded in UPSC with medical science as an optional, hence you can consider this option, go through the syllabus first, and analyze accordingly, if you're comfortable covering the subject you can definitely give it a try.

what should I take in degree after mpc should I go for engineering or normal b.com and focus in upsc exam preparation

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 21st Jan, 2021

hi,

upsc civil service exams can be attempted from any branch of studies. the eligibility criteria for upsc civil services is  candidates must have completed bachelors degree course in any discipline from a recognized education board. however it depends on you in which of the course you find interest. if you have decent score in mathematics, physics, chemistry you may opt for bsc or engineering courses. however if you are not inclined to do bachelors on science stream you may go for b.com (//b.com) or b.a course.

b.com (//b.com) would be easier compare to engineering courses.

i am 30 years old and wants to give UPSC exam at fresh start. is it a right time to start preparation as my age limit would be 32?

S. Saha Student Expert 10th Dec, 2020
If you were aiming for UPSC then you must have start earlier but still you have few more time left to prepare for UPSC. You should start your preparation as early as possible. As UPSC has a vast syllabus, first you should break it in few segments. Here a planned study time table will help you a lot. Ignoring even a small chapter can cost a lot. So you should focus on completing the entire syllabus. For Prelims, you don't need to go for deep understanding. Covering the syllabus from simple books will be great. NCERTs have been the best books for UPSC Prelims over the years. Keep the deadlines in mind and prepare accordingly. Revision is a must thing. Also solve previous years papers to understand the exam pattern and the types of questions.
