Since your documents are verified, you are eligible for the first round counselling but for the completion of first round counselling, choice locking is necessary so that you can go to second round counseling with those choices. So if the first round counselling is incomplete, you cannot go for the second round. All the events have tentative dates you may keep an information of, to not to miss an update. Your category rank is used for the utilization of the reserved seats in the colleges you're opting for and the general rank is preferred during the counselling process. Your choice filling must be done on the basis of your general rank.

Once the seat allotment on the basis of general rank is done, the category rank can be utilized. Generally this process goes on till the 3rd round, after that the category rank is applicable.

I would like to tell you that the colleges mentioned by you i.e Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University or Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University are well renowned colleges and have great industry acceptance. There is no such risk factor involved in taking admission into any of these colleges. However, the comparison of colleges can be done on certain parameters such as faculties, alumni base, placements structure, course curriculum, industry acceptance etc. I suggest you to have a look at the course you are looking for in both government as well as private university and then decide the better option for you based on the parameters I have mentioned.
