How can I become a data analyst after graduating in BSc. Mathematics? Is it a good option to take a six month course of data analysis with placement and enter into job?

Hi there,

Instead of pursuing a data analysis course after BSc go for Msc in Data Analytics. What this course will do is form a basis of Data Analytics for you and you'll have better job opportunities after that.

You can get a job after Bsc too, but as you have no prior knowledge of data analytics you'll have to enroll in an online course and learn all about data analytics on your own. Also, you'll have to show prior experience or a data analytics project that you have worked on. It gives employers the confidence that you are thorough with the subject.

As you have a BSc in Mathematics that is a major plus for you as concepts of mathematics are used in data analytics.

I would suggest going for higher studies as it will have a structured program and you will learn subjects like SQL, R, data analytics tools, and so on. All these are mandatory for a data analyst. Now you can pursue this Msc in data analytics in India or abroad.

If you wish to pursue in India, below is the link for colleges:

If you wish to pursue an online data analytics course after BSc you can find such courses on Coursera, LinkedIn, udemy, and so on.

Some of the platforms do offer courses and also placements after that. I am guessing Byju's or Simplilearn. But it will cost you a lot of money. Even if opt you for something like this please check the reviews and only then enroll for the course.

If your college offers placement go for it, and keep in track with the course side by side. After you are thorough with the course start applying through portals like LinkedIn, Naukri, or ask for referrals. Referrals are usually the easiest way to get an interview .

I however suggest going for higher studies as it will give you an edge over other candidates. But at the end of the day, it's your choice so choose wisely.

I hope this information helps!

Thank you!
