If you score a minimum of 96 percentile in JEE Main, then your rank will be around 48k. With this rank, there will be less chancs of getting a decent NIT/IIIT. So, try to score above 96. If you score at least 125 marks out of 300, then you will easily achieve 96 percentile. And scoring above it will increase your your getting a decent NIT/IIIT.
Hope it helps.
and you have mentioned 300.
secondly, the rank what you have mentioned is according to the previous year data.
this year the competition is assumed to be high.
By 96 percentile I take an approximation of the rank to be 40000. To get this rank you atleast need to score 150 with increasing competition as all the students get ample time during the lockdown days. But it also depends on the difficulty of the paper. If it is similar to previous year then as I have figured it out you need to get 145+.
Hope this helps.
All the best.
