Joint entrance examination main in the month of January and the conducted in the month of april are two opportunities for student to clear Joint entrance examination and they have no effect on each other even if you don't get good score in January then you can write in april and qualify for JEE advance

If you give both sessions jee main exam i.e.april and January, then the exam in which you got higher marks will be considered for further process.

So even if you do not manage the cut off in January session and manged it to get the cutoff in April session then your score of April will be considered.
